That's handy Terry. Great result! I'm still accumulating lot's of bits and pieces for my RV while I still have a little cash. I think I have just about everything I need now to make a start. As soon as work goes quiet again (which it will ), I'll get a bit more done. The objective is to have it up and running a couple of weeks before Newark, or earlier if possible. John

I'd like to Terry but if I remember right, the Stoneliegh date clashed with a Mustang Club event this year. That may not be the case next year though. . . (with a bit of luck) I drove a 300 mile round trip today in my (t)rusty Transit to collect a £20 part for the RV project. I'm slowly getting all the bits together, just a matter of time now before I can start bodging it all together. ;D John

what doors are you using? I currently have soft doors but I won't be using them. I'd like to get hold of a pair of early hard doors (sliding window type), but if I can't find any at a sensible price, I'll be having a crack at making some. John

I started the RV this week been stood for a few weeks, I have a problem with the alternator, the ignition light used to go off with a good rev but now only goes off after 10 mins or so. Trip down to the local auto sparks next week. Also I added antifreeze to the cooling system.

I'd better start doing a bit on the RV soon, I have a spare axle which I have had the 4.4:1 diff re bearinged and shimmed, I have new halfshaft bearings to fit and then can refit the brake plates etc, all new bits I think. Then theres loads more to do, but at least its on the road lol.

Well, I actually started my old RV up and drove it out of the barn today. I put a good set of jump leads on and connected it to my van. It took a while to crank up the fuel but it started pretty easily and, apart from a cloud of blue smoke, (it needs valve stem seals), it idled and ran really well. I had a good look over it and it looks like my next job will be to attack the windscreen frame with a mini grinder to remove it from the body tub. The fixing bolts are totally rusted and it looks like the frame has had a hefty piece of angle iron bonded into each end and fitted through the top of the tub and glass matted in. I have to remove the frame to angle it correctly for the hard top to fit. I'm actually considering making up a tubular frame and bonding it inside the fibreglass frame and hinging the screen similar to a Wrangler or CJ. Has anyone attempted this? I feel my enthusiasm has returned a little now and hope to get on with a few jobs in the next couple of weeks. Now I've completed and sold my BSA Thunderbolt project, I have a little spare cash and a lot more time so hopefully I might get a bit done.

I remember a RV with the screen hinged, but it was badly done and looked crap, but done correctly it could be great. Sory to hear the BSA has gone, I love the vintage bikes

Well I have put the brake backplates and halfshafts back on to the 4.4 axle, need to get some shoes springs and drums now and it can be fitted then. I have also bought some Rigging Screws to make up some adjustable top links so I can get the angle of the diff / propshaft a bit better, at the moment if the axle is at its lowest place the uj's will lock up, not recomended !.
