More work done on my dash and wiring loom. Only a few connections left to make on the wiring, just done the fuel and temp gauges, charging system and some of the electronic speedo. Also I had to re cover the dash as the first glue I used was spray type carpet adhesive, this didn't work so I took it all off and bought new leather cloth and evostick contact adhesive. Hope this works. I'm leaving it like it is for now, once other things have been done I can fit some ICE etc. I tell you these cars just eat up all your time LOL. I think the 170 mph might be a bit optimistic ! ;D

Terry with ref to your hinges. Note that they don't open pass 90 degrees so you risk pulling your hinges out of the fibreglass if the wind catches the bonnet (unless you fit a retraining strap) What i did on H's Other car was cut the rear part of the hinge back slightly so that they opened further (they work a treat) I did have to paint after to cover up the marks. Just a thought

Thats right Gary its a bit of a worry with the bonnet open but I want to keep them chrome. I think I will do as you suggest and fit a restraining strap.

When I wired up my alternator before xmas the ignition light would not go out. So, as the bearings were slightl noisy I took it to my local car electrics place (a proper back ally place). Its the type with three threaded posts not the plug type, the guy asks which one I put the lamp wire on,,,,,,you guessed I had put it on the wrong one. DOH. Anyway for £20 he put new bearings in and it should be fine now. But, before I fit it I have a new set of timing belts, idlers and tensioners to fit, and before they go on, I have to replace the water hose that runs behind the cam belt,,,yes behind it ! I'l hopefully get it done this weekend. Cheers guys, Happy new year ;D

Keep at it Terry I might just get to see it at the Stones this year I still haven't done anything more to mine. but I did buy Helen a Discovery 300TDI cheap and spent three weeks welding (to get it just right before I let her drive it)..It is nice now. I forgot what it's like working on a motor in the open air...That Eagle will have to come out the garage soon.

Discoverys are cheap at mo, This disco came as a mot failure at £150 img850.imageshack.us/img850/396/dscf1590v.jpgimg696.imageshack.us/img696/3630/dscf1591r.jpgThe black 2.o mpi in the background was expensive at £200 with 4 new off road tyres and 6 months mot. I sold the r/r for £450 as spares/repair, minus the reg of course. the c/l, immob and electric brakes had packed up , but we needed a 4x4 to attend to horses, they need more looking after than kit cars !!!! got 2 eagle bodies at farm but didnt want to go and fit um on r/r chassis, too much work LOL

lots of good work going on there , i've booked this monday and tuesday off as a holiday so i can get some work done to mine. since my shifts changed I dont have as much time as I did. I intend doing some basic work to the pinto in my SS just for reliability over the next few weeks, looking to probably change the oil and water pumps, thermostat and the timing chain and tensioner along with the oil spray bar thats famous on the pinto for blocking up, dont have any money for tuning it up, would rather just have an engine thats not going to break down on me

I think your right there Maverick, getting it reliable in standard form first is the way to go. Getting a tuned engine to run correctly can cost a lot of money. Will you be on the road this year ?

, meant timing belt and not timing chain ;D .... the car will definately be running again this year but unlikely to be on the road. although technically if I put off the respray till another time and was happy with having pretty much just a seat and no real interior to speak of it could be on the road as a rolling project. not sure what to do, i'm sure it'll come down to the usual time/money

Got some more work done, the doors now stay shut with latches instead of bits of wire tied round the handles.Brackets for passenger seat are made and fitted. New seat belts, wiper arms and blades from Car builder solutions fitted. New mirrors are in the post. I need to sort out some door seals as well, oh and tyres (£££££ouch). I will post picks again soon.

Raining here, so stuck in the garage getting high on resin and plastic padding fumes - repairing the cracks before the paint job.
Snowing here in Reading....lucky you, how is the build going?

I have a week off start of April for MOT...hopefully, and hoping the the respray will also be done by then.
Met someone else the other day with an RV, lives in Camberley...Ricky, who has just finished building one.....trying to get him and his good lady to the shows as well.......
Mine might not be that pretty either inside!
Keep it up!

i've got the odd bits on the SS like that needing done as well. although for the next couple of weeks my attention is on my usually trusty vauxhall omega. one of the timing belt pulleys disintegrated at the end of last week waiting on parts arriving. if I'm REALLY lucky all i need do is fit the timing belt kit and drive off into the sunset. if I'm not lucky then the cylinder heads coming off to to count some bent valves

Got a new clutch for the RV, a motoquip brand, new old stock off ebay for £54. Also a brand new toyota hilux 2.4 diesel radiator, £113, ouch but should cool anything that I am likely to put in there. So a busy weekend ahead, lots to do for Newark. ;D ;D ;D

After newark which was the second "shakedown run" I had a couple of problems. The copper bush I made as a spigot bearing started to squeal so I have ordered up the correct item now. Also the fuel economy dropped a fair bit. Then I noticed a diesel leak when the engine was revved, comming from the side of the pump. This was due to a diafram thingy which had split. I had one on my spare engine so now this is ok. The cooling still seams just capable so I have just spent a day fitting a new toyota 2.4 hilux rad this is about 100mm bigger all around and 3 rows thick. So fingers crossed. Also the drivers side stop /tail light bulb keeps popping out as ths plastic lugs on the wipac light unit have broken ( new unit ) so I'l have to try and fix it ! Shakedown runs do exactly that

I just found a local guy who will build my 4.4:1 diff for me. This guy can do this in his sleep and it will cost me £50 + 2 bearings 1 seal and a crushable spacer. Not even worth me trying to do it . happy days
