Theres a fair bit going on here in south Wales, I've had a few visits from pianoman (Graham Sterry) Who is working hard on his RV,s, at the moment moving bits around to complete one out of the two to get one on the road, Derrick also came down today in his GTS seven, took me for a blast around the lanes which was a new experience for me, he's also plodding on with his RV. And after reading todays posts I see Scorpio is working hard also on his RV. I have sorted out my hand brake so I can use a standard cortina cable, which I couldn't do with the old mounts, It was out with the mig again and fabricate some support work. I havent taken photos of this for some unknown reason but you might be able to see from other pics. Also I have put in the master cylinder and all new brake lines and flexies + new pads and fitting kits. Also here are a few pics of my exhust system I made up today, I bought a stainless silencer at stoneleigh for £35, a few 45 degree weldable stainless bends from pipeline centre and had a length of surplus stainless pipe from work. Total cost about £45. Just got to fit a few hangers now and its done. Should be starting the engine soon ;D ;D Better put fluid in the brakes and bleed through !

Now with the exhaust fitted I decided to try and start the engine. I aquired a nice big battery to turn over the old oil burner and did some temporary wiring, used a 5lt container as a tank on the scuttle and the return flow into a jug. Powered up the heater plugs and cranked it over but no joy. Cracked open the injector pipes and cranked it again till fuel came through but still it wouldn't start. Finally after a giant blast of easy start it clattered into life ;D. Now only seats, wiring, lights, dorrs & roof left to do

Just a little update, with cooling & fuel sorted I strung a few wires together for ignition and fired the motor up again, then I couldn't help myself, I just had to take the old rv for a drive down the street ;D. First time in around 19 years since I last drove it ! real good buzz.

Hi gunnynnics, about the late reply I havn't been on here much recently. the tank is one I welded up myself years ago, I had some zink coted steel sheets lying around so decided to make one. previous to that I had a hilman imp tank but it was too small at about 5 gallons. Basically look for a rectangular tank that will fit in the space between the rear bumper and the axle, you may then have to alter the position of the filler pipe. Or try some of the items used by the rallye and racing boys. expensive though ! Read thread in wante section about fuel tanks, some good advice there too.

S**t, I've been a lazy sod lately, hardly done anything on the rv over the last few months its been so b****y wet (I know I got a shelter) and miserable. Now its freezing lol . If I can, over the xmas holiday I'l get the lights fitted and some of the wiring done. It has to be mobile however it looks in time for stoneleigh. Cheers and Merry Christmas everyone

Nothing much to cold and I have just spent a nice Christmas in bead (flu) getting better now though, but I can’t have a drink for the new year (antibiotics) never mind I’ll have to make up for it at Stonleigh. But I’ll be cracking on with the Rv soon as I can

I bought a tool very similar, worth every penny. ..Can't work out why I struggled with old screwdrivers for so long A quick question Terry wouldn't have been easier to buy a fresh screen ;D Looks like your RV may be a Newark next year then My lad, Chris has started work on getting my RV back on the road (after the crash I lost interest abit ) looks like he wants it for himself so maybe he'll sell his Jago Watch this space although I doubt that he will come on here as it's not Face-twitter or what-every

I asked myself that very question, I still have the original one taped to a plank (no not me ) in the shed. But knowing me it would have been weeks before I got one then it would have been cold and hard to work the rubber, and I'm a tight git and it cost me bugger all ;D apart from buying the screen in the first place, didn't take long either realy. Hope your Chris gets the rv back on the road, he can park on our pitch then handy to jump start my van lol

A little tip when first connecting up the battery after rewiring or altering wiring....Put a 20 amp fuse in line with main battery lead (that will let you test everything except the starter circuit) and won't be a big deal if you have some thing wrong Not that I am saying that you will make mistakes Terry. But to Err is only human

I see that I am not the only one who takes the time to label the connections then Saves a lot of time when looking at it after a couple of weeks away from it, when you have forgotten what went where ;D
