When I bought my RV from the factory, ( Rob Budd, - the last manufacturer,) they did not offer wind up windows, so yours could be a home modification.

He says it's been in garage and turns freely, can't be too fussy these days, getting rarer by the minute and more expensive. I could turn that into a good 1641 less tins for £400. I have in the past bought an engine and had to hammer out a piston. It took an hour ! Was a VW 1500 variant ( flatter than the beetle engine ). Put 1600 barrels on and 2 webber carbs on, and took car to be re-jetted and power improvement was good. I used the original variant pistons, as they were domed with a higher compression. But as you say, it turns over. People - don't forget that you have to grind in the barrels to the head with grinding compound, just as you do with the valves, and keep the barrels in the original locations. ( 1, 2, 3, 4. ) and heads on the original sides of the engine. Buy a workshop manual From memory, the main bearings have round lugs on and have to be aligned in the main bearing bosses. Have fun with the rebuild anyone who buys an engine.

GRAB IT! VW engine minus a head going for only 0.99p one bid so it will go. Looks like it's been outside in the rain and all weathers for at least 10 years via the corrosion on alloy. Hence possible seized bores and valves. Not one I would buy. That's just my opinion.

INFO FOR TOWING
towing weight restrictions private cars www.gov.uk/towing-with-car/car-towing-weight-and-width-limits
Any trailer weighing over 750kg, including its load, must have a working brake system.
2. Car towing weight and width limits
Most cars have a maximum weight they can tow. It’s usually listed in the handbook or specification sheet.
Alternatively the vehicle’s ‘gross train weight’ may be listed on the vehicle identification number (VIN) plate on the car. This is normally under the bonnet or inside the driver’s door.
The gross train weight is the weight of the fully-loaded car plus fully-loaded trailer and must not be exceeded.
If your VIN plate doesn’t list a train weight, you should not use your vehicle for towing.
_________________________________________________________________________
www.parkers.co.uk/company-cars/news-and-advice/advice/2013/april/Towing/#2
What's the maximum weight I can carry in my trailer?
Trailer has no brakes (Unbraked Trailer)
Maximum 750kg gross trailer weight or half the towing vehicle's kerb weight - whichever is less.
Trailer has brakes (Braked Trailer)
Maximum 3500kg gross trailer weight.( if your car is allowed to pull this weight )
_______________________________________________________________________
USING AN "A" FRAME.
Fixed "A" frame that uses a solid "A" frame with chains that hook over the wishbones or similar MUST have the vehicle that is being towed, capable of having the towed vehicle "braked" by the towing car. And of course, a rear trailer light board.
The car being towed MUST be M.O.T.ed taxed and insured ___________________________________________________________________________
USING A "DOLLY"
a DOLLY has just 2 wheels and small platform at side of each wheel to rest the front wheels of a car on. These can only be used for cars that have broken down, and not for transporting to shows. Although if you say you were booked into a show, and the car broke down 2 miles from home, a police officer is not a mechanic and should let you continue.

The RV was designed to use the Range Rover chassis as you probably know, or eagles own chassis ( included and fitted with the body for the cortina Mk 3 to 5 ) so using a Discovery will tell you there will be differences.
Mine was a standard Cortina petrol one, and performance was O.K. I currently have an Eagle SS with 2.0 petrol and performance is good.
Before you spend your money, remember you will lose most of it on resale if it's a hybrid. Mine was a 2.0 Automatic and gave reasonable traction. about half way between 4 x 2 and 4 x 4 No slipping the clutch, just keep revs constant, and its a very light body if the Cortina 2 wheel dive chassis is used.
Hope some others answer you with helpful advice.

Yes I was considering taking my eagle there on a trailer but the clutch on my ford focus is starting to slip. So I dare not risk pulling a trailer 1) Get your clutch replaced before it gives up alltogether, and before it damages your flywheel if rivets start gouging the flywheel, which would be another costly expense. 2) From memory, what you are pulling can only be 50% of the gross weight of the pulling car.

Eagles are welcome on the stand in any condition. People understand that things take time and there's never enough time before a show. I know I've missed a few though motor issues. Me being a skin flint ( i don't like spending money ) I assume people driving their kit car in is free admission. So what happens if you arrive with a normal car + trailer, kit car on trailer, maybe stating the kit car broke down a few miles from home ( which it did, but not that day ) do the 2 people have to pay an entrance fee ? ( costs are limited at present, and I have to drive to Tatton Hall in June and July with a 40 year old Lincoln Continental Mk IV, [only done 18000 miles from new and £ 6000 to re-commission ] at 7 to the gallon / 12 on a long run ) see i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m571/him_from/Lincoln/side018_zpsvdpq3r3y.jpg~original( click above link to view full size pic' and click that pic to enlarge: not the one below.)

Only three weeks to go, anyone ready? I'll be there Monday, but see eaglecarclub.proboards.com/thread/2068/eagle-ss-petrol-tankwhich says, I will probably be at Stoneleigh on the Monday, but without the Eagle ss. as the fuel tank leaks and the pick up inside the tank wont draw fuel, and with the M.O.T. work ( minor electrics age related bad contacts -- somewhere ) i'll be there next year. If I can afford a trailer, I may even contemplate bringing it on a trailer if work for M.O.T. not finished in time. if Gary agrees. ( someone brought an RV on trailer last year )

Thanks.
I hope the seat frames that were with the seats can be dimantled easily, de-rusted, cleaned, painted and used. I will probably be at Stoneleigh on the Monday, but without the Eagle ss. as the fuel tank leaks and the pick up inside the tank wont draw fuel, and with the M.O.T. work ( minor electrics age related bad contacts -- somewhere ) i'll be there next year.

I remember Rob Budd ( of Eagle Cars ) saying he had a trailer stolen ( Motorway service station, or similar ) that had the Milan body moulds on, could just have been the prototype of the finished version that the moulds were to be taken off. I think it was the Milan, but so long ago, can't remember exactly.
The cost of doing the moulds originaly, then to have some stolen, when there was a down turn in Eagle cars models sales, would probably not justify a new set of moulds, or new prototype to make moulds from.

Have you decided to sell any parts like seats and roll over bar yet? Yes, as agreed, but I was to get back to you, but hospital delayed me. I have been unable to clear the inside, but will do shortly, roll bar there, and seats too. Just have to go to the yard when not raining this week and I'll get back to you with address etc.

Anyone on here bought the white Ford SS MkIII body from the guy who wanted just the chassis in October this year, drove off in a blue Vauxhall. EOC reg entry FSS58 That would be me. Have been in and out of hospital recently so apologies to those that have agreed to purchase parts from it. Seems it was built, drove round a bit, engine blew up, and remained like that, outside, for many years. Engine never got fixed, parts still inside the body, body hardly any use, but ravages of time and not being careful with the body have left their mark. Probably only used for 6 months to a year. Probably will be made into a trailer, as no chassis available, and I already have an SS, F355 ferrari MR2 nearing completion, Rolls ( should be sold next week ), and a few others. and before anyone scolds me for possibly scrapping an Eagle SS, these things happen, My SS should be at some of the next shows, if there are any, but we shall see.

I have an SS screen. Fitted at the moment.
Starting to go a bit frosty round the edges, but easily masked with a painted small border if you wanted to go that far. Some new cars have a wide black border tapering into small dots.
let me know.

Be careful, as it's a ford shock absorber part number too ! Good luck

I have a set of stainless steel channel to fit over the front and rear bumpers. Just a straight channel and cut to fit perfectly, same as photo without the 2 hoops, if anyone is interested to cross my palms from my sold RV.

I see you have painted "Everything". The gear gaiter. handbrake gaiter, the popits for the soft top, and will be hard to push on those as it's got layers of paint on them, and you may find the paint lifts around the studs as it's hard to rubdown around those. ( Should have unscrewed them to paint the body.) Tut tut. Windscreen you can live with, but not the studs.

It is not the steam fair That was earlier in the year 5th & 6th July. Opps , Was thinking Sunday 28th September, and when you go to the Hollowell Steam Trust Rally web site, at the top it says 28th Rally. But no dates were shown, so subconsciously, brain thinks, 28th September !. for confusion.

I don't just want to pop down and tinker, leads to too many ideas. I need to get on. Yes, like forget the thought of the time consuming change of suspension front and rear. get it on the road first, through the Spanish lengthy registration process, etc etc etc. by the way, I have seen photos of rear engined eagle and Ford front engined one. Which one do you have, which one are you working on ?

There is no registration number or V5, but I also have the cortina front and rear axles and suspension. , I am looking for a chassis that is Q plated, and cheap of course. If you want to get rid of the rear end of the chassis, from door catch in sill to the rear, let me know.
