Do you know the extended and closed lengths? I'm getting close to the part where I need gas rams for the doors. Where did you get yours from? Do they have a nipple to be regassed? Cheers Do you know the extended and closed lengths? YES Where did you get yours from? CAME WITH THE KIT ( + ONE STOLE FROM A BAD SS BODY I SOLD )
Do they have a nipple to be regassed? NO
I may be at the garage today, and will measure the rams and photo the mounting positions in case they changed from your early SS.
Cost per ram was cheaper than the total cost of postage ! !
Unfortunately, the info will only ( next month ) be on the Members only tech' page. All kit car clubs seem to be doing these things, It's understandable, as if ALL info is available for free, then you have no need to be paid up members, and no need to support the club financially. Which is why the Eagle Owners Club nearly folded, + had no paying members a few years ago and further back, almost disappeared. It's a hard world out there. Only the savy clubs will survive.

280 N gas rams are needed to open doors. Eagle SS is a Mk 3.. all standard fittings.
Just had mine re-gassed / pressurised to 280 N ( May 2024 ) The original part number WT11415 ( do not use this part number as size has shrunk over 36 years, and pressure increased to 350 N) Supplied originally by Jonas WOODHEAD
.
Original Masking tape on ram states 280 N
Current re-pressurised ones assist the doors, but don't rappidily increase the rate to the top with a thud. But with enough force to keep opening the door from three quarters up. I am fine with this and know current and previous didn't and wont distort the doors.
I just may get one spare one gassed to 300 N to see the difference. and will forward my recommendations and publish them on the Members only tech' page.

EAGLE OWNERS CLUB Limited.
MALVERN SITE PLAN ( abridged )
FULL NONE CUT PLAN AT
We have the same LARGE plot as last year, so I hope we can fill it this time. THIS is the BEST PLOT as it's next to the ONLY paying public entrance and exit. It is a show also for / classic cars / pre 1980's / and custom vehicles -- Lets utilize it. -- fill it up....
None Eagle cars "may" be ushered to a special area, on the plot, rather than having a Mishmash of vehicles ( confusing the public ) but at the end of the Eagles.
Camping may ( may be ) be allowed on the plot, but we NEED to have fine black mesh along the outside perimeter fence. ( 6 foot high ) and along the side of the entrance hut, to hide the tents from the public queing outside - I don't seem to have time to do all this, nor feel the need to spend limited club funds on netting to maybe accomodate none members camping on the plot.
Lets have the plot looking orderly and professional. ( Difficult - I know )
Due to me having to bring 3 vehicles, one may have to be on a trailer, and club items in trailer behind second car, so we may have mine and other people's 2 or 3 car transporters, and one small trailer, together with the pulling cars on the plot................ . so maybe best not to have camping on the Plot ?
Regards Graham Wood.

Graham hi I haven't seen an e-mail from you as yet ? Charlief01.c-tech@outlook.com , been very busy, - AND inundated with life's problems and forgot to send email, AND my emails have been compromised ( hacked ) and I changed passwords 3 times in 4 weeks, so bear with me every one. Passwords no longer saved on computer, so that should top the hackers .. so now I can email. ( kept being locked out of emails as passwords were changed, and not by me ).
Will reply later today, Saturday, as it's 1 am saturday, and I need to go to get some sleep.

.......PERMITTED RANT ............. EDITED 4PM 29/4/2024
To Charlie Francis; Dave D; & trike: ( and others )
I have replied with a short email to each.
Unfortunately - not all owners may be able to bring their cars to the shows. This is normal. My SS has never been to a show, ever: but have worked on it, despite my health ( which is improving ) to get it road worthy for the next show, against all odds & you don't want to know my problems ( you would be shocked ). All the best to those who are at least trying to finish their Eagle.

Thanks Chris, I could actually make one given a suggested size. would anyone be kind enough to put it on display if I covered all shipping costs etc?? Regards, Titch Unfortunately, nothing for sale can be advertised for sale on any club stand, except Club merchandise, badges, pens etc, because the stand / plot is given Free. Any one club found selling none club items, the club will be asked to leave the venue immediately.
However, I will have a poster stating the web address of the forum / club etc - stating - "may also include cars for sale"
, but we don't want to be kicked off the stand.
Regards Graham / Chairman / show organiser / etc, etc, etc.

Eagle SS body shell including all glass for sale.
BUT no ford chaissis - so wont fit anything else. Offer £ 350 to £ 400 for the body only, for spares. BEFORE it's scraped: . I would buy it but with 8 vehicles to maintain, I have no more room.

its a ford Cortina variant with fibreglass floor pans. Looking at the link you sent I think they will do nicely thanks Appologies .. one or Two flanges as required.AND BUT you have longitudinal steel next to inner original dropped seat floor pans, so other alternatives to weld angle brackets to underside then weld one inch square hollow section down and accros to suport fiberglass. that way your dropped side panels are just infills, and made of anything as not load bearing. SEE VERY ROUGH pics
You have not seen my hodge potch meccano style exhaust sytem hangers, and Meccano decribes it best.
For those of you that are unfamiliar with ford models see ---

Hi has anyone ever dropped the floor pans on their Eagle SS or for that matter own an Eagle SS that has them lowered, at 6ft 3" I feel i need to drop mine to save my head Let people know if it's VW Steel floor pan, or a front engine fiberglass floor .
The Mk 3, ( ford ) i seem to remember had the roof line lifted, just a bit. and maybe, just maybe had the floor lowered too, but the floor on the ford seems lower than the Beetle variant anyway.

Stunning ! AND on another note do you know anything about lowering the floor pans in an Eagle ? Mine may have changed slightly at the shows - I add suttle items here and there. Not too much, but just enough to enhance the outward appearance a little.
Lowering floor pan on V.W. beetle chaissis ?
i made some once for my Nova, and dimensions were in the nova build manual. Basicly it's a taper downwards from the front to rear. But you may find aftermarket seats wont fit in, but Nova fiberglass seats ( if they made them ) would fit. I cant find a VW eagle manual to see if anything in there.
Suggest you start a new thread and ask the question.

That is true indeed The body work on the £500 one looks in a pretty bad way, i am considering it though for spare body parts. The £5195 one I'm having a chat with the guy selling it (via e-bay) and agree it seems to be a non runner, I'm about to ask when the engine was last run. I feel it may have been a while ago, it appears he bought it as barn find and hasn't done anything with it since £ 5000 one.
Don't pay anymore than £ 3500, it's a barn find and as I said about his description, he just wants to flip it for a big profit ! A fully road going eagle - tuned beetle 1641 cc - immaculate, was sold ( running ) for about £ 6000 last year. Tell him that.
It will be about 10 to 20 years unsued. ! get can of WD 40 down the plug holes first - leave for 2 days, clear out by turning it over, then ATF automatic trans fluid, - just a bit, leave for 2 days, then turn over to clear out ( rag by plug holes ) -- it's not worth £ 5000.............. It's a barn find.- unloved, uncared for.

Looks amazing, I certainly plan on mine being different Have you seen there is an Eagle SS and an Eagle SS body for sale on e-bay ? Thanks again.
Well, as I am the Chairman of the Eagle Owners Club, I HAVE to make an effort, don't you think ?
I've now seen the two eagles for sale, and nearly bought 2, 4 years ago, complete with ford chassis- for £ 500 each
So, the £ 500 one has no chassis so not worth any more than £500
And the £ 5,195 is a project car. ( no number plates, no battery,) and I value it at £ 3500 to £ 3800. It's a none runner - sort of - and the description is just a sales ploy / hype, and not an accurate description, and no interior shots, no M.O.T.

Nice one Graham. looking good. Can hear the bass and sounds like a sweet and steady tickover. Spent hours polishing it today - and my back didn't hurt -- uncomfortable - but O.K.
Tick over is on the high side so it doesn't sound like a 4 cylinder ( more like a V 10 ?? ) It's all about image + what people think it is, rather than what it actually is. But that's me. Not the norm' /
£££ Not that anyone is interested, but don't leave your car alone for 20 + years ( started frequently to keep engine perfect ) and with 35 year old tyres needing replacing ( only 6000 mile on them ) , rusting steel wheels and original 1975 braking sytem having to be replaced through seizure, it's cost me £ 1700 to get back on the road, but then a lot of that would have been replaced over the 35 years any way, but a lot cheaper years ago. I'm on my 4th battery in 25 years, and it's been nowhere in those 25 years. Batteries love hard discharge and charge. and will last 5 years minimum with regular use, but 2 years with infrequent use. "Smart" trickle charging ( no need to disconnect battery, when earlier chargers would destoy the altinator if battery stayed connected ) helps.
Time for bed.

UPDATE 2.
IT'S ALIVE -- IT LIVES ! . after 25 years
Got the brakes renewed / make one copper brake pipe / bled and fitted new silencers which ment butchering and modifying exising pipework and with new mounts and reducers, hacksawing, hammering / blood / swearing / reconfiguring / change of plans / etc etc etc.. Took 5 hours / 2 of us yesterday, Sunday. Just need to adjust orientation at centre and rear as silencers not level yet ( cocked over ) ( another 2 hours - minimum )
see two videos -
2nd video - exhaust sound: eagleownersclub.org.uk/eagle/20240415_033115.mp4 If you play it on a phone with a pip squeak speaker or tiny bud ear pieces, you probably WONT hear the deep "BASS" sound RUMBLE ( use a REAL computer with speakers )

hi, do we have a "stand" at the Malvern show, and if we do, how do you register please ? Yes - a stand at Newark and Malvern.
Just tell us ( me ) you will be attending, ( Newark and Malvern ) via an email, AND on here. that you would like to be on the stand, with a trike / classic car / pre 1980 / custom vehicle / Eagle. We need to know so we can increase size anticipated if need be - and soon.
But not every one tells us they are coming or that the regulars are not coming.
I need to separate the none Eagles this time - together - stating - Other cars owned by Eagle members ( Even if they are not members ) so as not to confuse the public as to why an American / pre 80's / classic car ,and possibly a three wheeler are on the Eagle stand. It is a show also for kit cars / classic cars / pre 1980 / custom vehicles, which i why I bring the Lincoln Mk IV - mainly to fill up the stand as some years it can be nearly empty.

Final wheel restoration ( more boring photo )
The centre caps are chrome plated steel, so will have to watch out for corrosion inside the wheel centre hole and at back of wheel, so mucho ( hard ) grease to be applied. Would have liked aluminium alloy, but none available at 68 mm wheel hole size.
