This forum occasionally gets targeted by spam. It would be handy having a few more forum moderators too. Graham what do you think?
Yes - another moderator would be beneficial, but needs to be someone who is not too busy during the day / evening / weekends ( which rules me out ) because as you know, the forum needs contant vigilance - it may need 10 to 15 minutes each day or every other day.
Regarding people who have lost their password or user name that is locked to an email address, it is simple enough to make a new email address - for example --- in hotmail --- signup.live.com/signup.
I have 9+ email address ( Private / personal / 3 websites / Leasehold management / + yahoo and hotmail )
Therefore - it would be appriciated if any fully paid up member has the time to devote 10 minutes per day / every other day. and to contact Chris.
( Chris to let me know who has offered their services before choosing )
We realy need the help. We have very few members of the official club ( not forum members - as not all forum members are paid up Club Members, although none paid up Club Members will be considered.)
More than happy to send pictures, but how do you want them sent as it doesn't seem possible to post pics directly onto the message board and all the ones what used Photo bucket are now Blank, as I believe photo bucket has closed all free accounts ?
I run the engine up to operating temperature - see the temp rise then fall - often in those years, and at 2000 revs, ( 1500 till 50 degrees C reached ) then when finished - at 3000 revs for 1 minute, to clear out the engine and exhaust.
This is when the car never goes out on the road, e.g. it's on wheeled stands, or has parts removed for repair / renewal etc.
You idealy need to run an engine once a week, AND fill carb with 99 octane fuel as that's only E5 fuel, and with 2-stroke oil added.
A) To stop mosture
B) stops rust forming between piston rings and bore.
C) a 30:1 ratio 2-stroke oil added.will be fine.
D) helps keep Battery cycled, and lasts a bit longer than 1 to 2 years max when a battery is not working correcty by infrequent use.
Once a month engine start is acceptable, ( 3 months max.)
This part is vital. You need to find and use a reliable unleaded fuel. There are specific things you need to look for. For instance, it should never comprise more than 10% ethanol.
Why?
Well, when exposed to air, ethanol attracts moisture. And as you probably already know, when water mixes into an oil its properties change, so it no longer has the desired effect.

What's the specification for the standard wheels / TYRE sIZE AND PREsUREs for an Eagle RV
It would be also helpful to state your engine size.
Another point is tyre pressures you use( THAT WORK ---i.e. no uneven wear ) As an R.V. is lighter than a Ford cortina donor with 13 inch wheels, so you can't use those pressures.
EDIT 19 - 8 - 2O23 ... I built my own R.V. but can't remember the sizes, and someone else has asked the question.
My car has a removable front bumper so I have decided to cut a hole where the front number plate would go in line with the fog / spot lamps and put a grill behind. I will then cut a slightly larger hole in the front panel and fit an electric fan. The engine and box are from a lotus eclat so I think that should be enough cooling. Paul.
Attached are 4 photos ( 3 of a Racing SS, Ford V6 front engine.) Racing SS - This engine would be thrashed, so needs decent cooling, but yours wont be running at full throttle permanently !
The front of the SS forward of the radiator is completely open at the bottom, but if you are going to be running at full throttle permanently. you need to cover the bottom to direct the airflow to the radiator from the front of the car: A hole where the front number plate was will get mixed with the air flowing under the car and would probably be sucked out under the car and not reach the radiator with no under-tray.
Even production cars have underbody composite shields, under front to front of radiator and older cars have ( did have ) tinware directing air to the radiator. If you are really worried about overheating you should fit an under-tray from front to the bottom of the radiator. and tinware to direct the airflow to the Rad'.
But I don't think you will need an under-tray for normal driving. I don't have one. and no problems with normal driving over 6000 miles in it's life of ( 28 years off the road currently ) and compression testing recently, was still within manufactures spec's
I run the engine up to operating temperature - see the temp rise then fall - often in those years, and at ( 1500 minimum ) 2000 revs, then when finished - at 3000 revs for 1 minute, to clear out the engine and exhaust.
But whatever you choose to do, will keep the cooling on track.
Thank you Charlie but I'm in southern Ireland, otherwise I would take you up on the offer. Do you have problems with cooling? I'm putting a twin cam lotus engine and box in. Thanks.
Hi, Ive made a post ref COOLING - OVERHEATING , so that people with any problems can post there, instead of it being LOST within a "Dashboard" thread.
I have not seen any posts on this forum ( but I may have missed one - if any ) about overheating.
The engine size / power should not matter as most keep Eagle SS's to 2 litre.( assume yours is no bigger than 2000 cc )
However, in order for mine to never overheat ( not that it would ) have a look at the 2 pics.
There is a vent cut in the front of the bonnet bulge, and 2 additional ones at front lower edge.
Mine is not a modified engine, although in it's time had 4 carbs on it ( 2 x twin weber 40 dcoe ) side draught. jetted for an RS 2000 ( that's the way they came )
Leave the normal engine fan on it ( as mine has ) but ensure you have a temperature guage and manual electric fan that comes on with switch, as if the coolant sender for the fan ever stops working ( it's known to happen ) you may think everyting is o.k. when it may not be.
Anyway, run your car without holes in bonett and see how it goes first.
If it was not for the non-eagles on the pitch, there would have been no cars available after 12 noon, so good job they were there, even people asking to sit in the Blue Lincoln Mk IV. But I suggested we allow them as it was also a Pre 80's classic show ( Lincoln ) and a custom car show ( 2.2 inline 4, three wheeler ) and to fill up anticipated empty spaces.
The people who help prepare the tents / cook / odd jobs + committee members . I took the photo as did not wish to crack the lens. With out whom there would be no shows
Still will be ok on unleaded but stick to e5 premium fuel. Still rubbish fuel but not as destructive as e10 for your carb
E 5 in UK is normally 99 octain.
But any 1982 Pinto engine ( or any engine ) would not have been converted to run on Unleaded petrol 15 to 20 years before the introduction of unleaded fuels being all you can get.
You need a lead suppliment additive and ethonal reducer added to your petrol tank.
And 20 / 50 MINERAL engine oil which contains Zinc which is now banned in petrol engine oils, but is NEEDED in older engines, as is the lead suppliment.
Diesel oils contain zinc.
They say synthetic oils ruin your older engines.
and this is your choice, I use Molyslip oil additive all my pre 2005 engines. probably up to pre 2012 years to be safe.

So long as you are in a kit car / Pre 80's classic / or custom car.
Your passenges need to pay though.
But -- recent comment on facebook is as follows : -
COME ON Guys and Galls. Is NO-ONE from facebook going to the free show at Newark. ( It seems not.)
Does anyone on Facebook actually OWN an eagle ? and legally on the road ? seems not. I Don't work, I don't receive a wage - BUT I GO. I currently have a bad back so can't do a weeks work on my SS ( A garage would charge £ 2800 to do the work for me, which is not acceptable at present. )
My partner needs 2 operations one on her back and left knee and uses a crutch to get around, so neither of us can camp, BUT WE STILL GO, via hotels for 2 days ( Friday and Saturday ) Costs for the Malvern show totaled £ 557 ( Hotel, Lincoln and Vectra petrol, hire of trailer as mine was not big enough for Malvern+ some food ) and will be the same for Newark. But we still GO. ( almost £ 1000 to attend 2 shows - £ 355 for Newark )
The other Committe members; Terry ( terryrob ) and Jon ( Gromit ) also attend every Show and have smaller cash commitments to the club. We pnly received £ 120 in membership ( May to May ) fees so its a "no brainer" to run the club and we survive on Donations ( which were more than the membersip fees received ) You DON'T have to arrive in your Eagle for the shows.
Had dropped it off at the house I'm renovating, together with tent poles and was in the tent accessories boxes. ( can only do light jobs at present hence the need of a power drill )
I'd still like to find the tent peg applicator, and think it was borrowed at the show, so guys, bring ALL the "tent peg applicators" you have with you to Newark. I wont charge you too much rental ! ! for the use of.

It was "OK" - was on my own on Sunday. if you give people something to read ( on a stand ) that I recently purchased. you get more interest and more people commenting having read the signs.and asking questions ( both days )
Which was what I did at Malvern, but just the inserts pinned to the ground, with people taking photos of description pages ( on the ground ) and also on their knees to read. So got some cheap stands which I'll use at Newark, but with guy ropes when its windy. Had to stop mine blowing away in the wind via spare fan belt trapped under headlamp covers. see photos Met a few people I saw 2 years ago. & was invited to sit with the white Mark V next to mine. Got his contact number as he seems to be a horder of American cars. he has 13 of them and 6 motorcycles. I said to him, you must live on a farm with plenty of outbuildings, which he replied, Yes, i've just bought a farm.
He does not renovate them, - just buys them, so I may go to Dorset to look and persuade him to sell some.
Your top photo is a Lincoln continental in the style of a Mk III Your Bottom Photo is a 1974 GMC Oldsmobile 5700 cc ( 5.7 L ) don't know the model, unfortunately
Will you be at Newark ? photos below
Eagle Cars promoted also.
Last Edit: Jul 6, 2023 9:21:27 GMT by Graham Wood: corrected spelling mistakes ( maybe not all )
Hi Graham..i have one of those too!!! Cant be many in the UK. Mine is a 1972 mk4
Good.
Is it in good shape ?
The white one I have is a "Lipstick" edition, and one 11000 mile add ( for sale at £ 30,000 ) - said a few years ago there was only one in the country.
At the time, I knew of 3 ( including the £ 30,000 one,) so now there are 4 "Lipsticks".
Yes there ARE about 10 to 20 Mk IV's but they don't go to shows, nor are avertised often, so we will never know the true numbers. and the DVLA won't answer any questions about any cars or owners address, not even to car clubs such as ours to find owners.
I have photos of the bad rust points of these and some are horrendous, and I will shortly be rustproofing with the ONLY true rust stopper that works, which is Phosphoric acid ( expensive ) - and don't breath in the fumes. ever.
Have included a few on here. if you want my full set, message me with your email address.

that looks like it could be the one on the right and the two on the left, but the two in the middle look to have a straight body line where the "door" is
Yes, series GT2 had straight body line. Series one -- bent
