Hi Guys, I am new to the forum and would like to pick the brains of the Eagle RV builders to find out about any tips and problems I will have when I go and get a project Eagle RV kit. I have a Discovery chassis, front and back axle also a four speed LT95 gear box, also a set of Land Rover Rostyle wheels to go with the project, and a sport steering wheel. I would want to fit a Diesel engine if possible, but from what I hear it's the V8 petrol people use, has anyone fitted a diesel in the jeep yet let me know if you have and tell me what the performance was like. Is there any modifications to the chassis that needs done to the chassis before I start the project. cheers in advance Alan Sheffield S25 4EQ

The RV was designed to use the Range Rover chassis as you probably know, or eagles own chassis ( included and fitted with the body for the cortina Mk 3 to 5 ) so using a Discovery will tell you there will be differences.
Mine was a standard Cortina petrol one, and performance was O.K. I currently have an Eagle SS with 2.0 petrol and performance is good.
Before you spend your money, remember you will lose most of it on resale if it's a hybrid. Mine was a 2.0 Automatic and gave reasonable traction. about half way between 4 x 2 and 4 x 4 No slipping the clutch, just keep revs constant, and its a very light body if the Cortina 2 wheel dive chassis is used.
Hope some others answer you with helpful advice.

Hate to say this but there are alternative Disco kit out there like the Dakar.
Of course you can fit a V8 to a Ford chassis, needs a bigger tunnel etc and whatever rear axle with a bit of skill, front sub frame / axle is the problem.
