unfortunately mine wont be ready for this Year, but will hopefully be in a showable condition for next Year, even if its not totally finished. I assume if a vehicle is being shown you would need to turn up prior to the show and then not be able to move it until after the last day ? You can turn up and leave at any time. Some members can only make one day or a few hours, some turn up on the day before and stay the whole 2 nights. Members and interested folk are encouraged and welcome to come with or without a car, all the better if you have an Eagle. Theres always tea, coffee and beer available.

The additional categories sound good, guess we just need to be careful we don't end up with more categories than we have vehicles. How about the greatest progress made on a build/restoration. Based on photo's and diary entry logged on the site, this would hopefully encourage people to log their progress and make for interesting reads for other members. Now we are getting somewhere good idea about the progress catagory.

I agree with Gromit about the trophies, the same few people will win all the time. Its not like we have 100 members turning up from all corners of britain. Certificates are the way to go, don't need returning and can be cherrished by the winner for life. Then you still have the same people who win all the time - with certificates.
So do we have to do away with "BEST SS" AND "BEST RV" ? ( comments open to all Eagle owners )
Or if you won it last year, you can't enter for the next year, but can after that ? I don't know of any car shows including concourse events that say you can't win "BEST" every year. Or do you go the "woke" way, and it's every one gets a trophy or certificate day, so as to be "Inclusive" and "diverse".
But bear in mind, I donated the trophies for people to keep permanently, last year , so no need to return. I have plaques of car shows I have won from car clubs ( the small one shown is from a small attendace as small as the EAGLE OWNERS CLUB ) - for me to keep forever, and may have to donate again this year. ( £ 65 ) They are FREE. ( for the moment )
Just my thoughts. Graham. GUESTS MAY NOT BE ABLE TO SEE OR ENLARGE PHOTOS
Correct, you still have the same people winning lol,,,,,, but it doesn't cost anywhere near what trophies cost. Especially if we add more catagories

There was and is a flagpole with a flag that has been used at every show inc Stoneleigh and Newark last year, plus the new eagle banner which grommit provided Yes, i know, but would like to see George's extra long flagpole utilised as well, with "Eagle" wording on it, if George would let us. ( Thats what the £ 60 was indicated for )
Depending on where our pitch is, we may be overlooked by some visitors, hence the "suggestion" on a taller flag pole ( as well as the one that gets anchored by an R.V. wheel ) so visitors see where the Eagle pitch is from a distance.
Just a thought.
I agree Graham, a new flag would be nice. The new modern ones that look like sails are very good and light and keep shape with no wind. The club needs revanue first though.

It would be great if you could get this car on the road again, I have only ever seen one, that was at Newark around 2012. Unfortunately the car had a crash and got written of so that was the end of that. There is always something more important or of higher priority that gets in the way of kit car work as I find out. Even now as semi retired I have lots of jobs to do and sometimes the entheusiasm isn't there either lol.

I thought the food provided was excellent I enjoyed it all and there was enough for all that wanted it. Bacon ran out at Sunday breakfast but plenty of sausages left. Roll on next years shows, we have learned and will be better. Thanks to grommit for providing the meat and thanks to George and his dad Chris for doing most of the cooking. No thanks for me I've been a lazy git this time lol.

Hi guys, tested the new camping bbq i have trailer tent and it was a resounding success and i have also managed to get hold of a full ( been used twice ) camping gas bottle for £25 which the club can use if they wish? So all we need is some idea how how many people we need to get food for! Graham can you test the water on that one as im still having to log on as a guest so i cant direct message anyone on here. Im pretty sure its at 4 people upto now! Me, Terry, George, George's dad. Anymore for anymore??? Dave Dale

Ok, food,,,, what normally happens is that we ( me & Gromit ) calculate an excessive amount for the two of us or 3 if lyndon comes, then double it to be sure. This ensures there is usually a fair surplus which is gladly shared to hungry people. The barbi will be on Saturday evening to line bellies for the following beverage. I would say if people are camping for the weekend then they realy should bring what they need especially if we don't know they are coming. There is always the option of nipping to a shop if need be. Of course we can change this if people want food provided at a cost, but we need to know. Plenty of time yet, food is a last day buy. I would hate to buy too much and see it wasted.

Graham, If you are putting the club tent up there's no point in trying to get away with the trailer tent on the pitch. There probably isnt room for the two anyway. I thought it would be easier with the trailer tent instead of the club tent at this particular show as we would have all the facilities to hand and save you pulling the trailer to the show. All campers will have to get together in the designated area. Grosvenor have dropped a big clanger imo, it looks like they have only booked half the site to save money. Ok for day trippers but not for weekenders. To Terry ( Terryrob ) and John ( Gromit )
Good News
You can have the trailer tent on the Newark club plot AND sleep on the plot in the trailer tent and be the H.Q. for the Eagle owners club at Newark kit car show for this year.
I have been able to get a concession from Grosvenor shows, at much discussion.
Just the H.Q. ( trailer tent ) is allowed. No other tents / caravans
I hope this sorts out the previous problem.
ALSO, we were next to the planed Saturday evening entertainment stage. This is no longer the case. They are having the bar and entertainment in a building, and not next to our plot. Good news all round.
Therefore, as suggested, The large tent will not be at Newark, and the trailer tent can be the H.Q. And my trailer is past it's sell by date and needs to be scrapped. It's a home made one I bought, and it's disintigrating,
I will assume the trailer tent will now be at Newark and I will not be bringing the Club tent.
Please confirm.
Well done Grahan a bit of good negotiating there, and Yes we will have Gromit's HQ tent there. No need to risk that trailer falling apart on the motorway lol.

perfectly fine with me!! Graham if you could get clarification from the morale police ( grosvenor ) if this is the new policy moving forward for both shows when you next speak to them it would be handy to know! If it is the case its just another nail in the coffin of the kit car world and shows! Considering the news ive heard this week about Westfield being in receivership and finished. The biggest kit car company and club by a mile will have big big ramifications going forward so little things like these stupid new rules will be the death nell for future shows and clubs! Well done Graham and sence has been seen by Grosvenor. Gromit we will worry about Stoneleigh closer to the time lol.Its gonna be interesting to see how many other clubs have come to the same agreement, we will have a good nosey around when we are there.

Less than a month to go to Newark now so who's bringing there Eagle? please keep a space for my Eagle. I you choose to, what time would you anticipate erecting the marquee tent? As my son will also be coming and we may be able to help. Look forward to seeing you all. Thanks Mark.
We will be erecting the tent on Friday 12 noon or 2pm, and have accommodation booked for Friday and Saturday night. Should take an hour, now that we have seen how it all goes together. But have Saurday morning to finish it if needed.
Unfortunately, The Eagle SS has not been touched, and will not be at the show, as my back is still troublesome, and have had 2 house floods, and renovating two houses, 1 for sale and one to live in, and I just cant get builders to attend, as they are all mad busy since end of covid, and they pick and choose the most lucrative jobs first, so I have to do some jobs myself. It's urgent as am paying 3 council taxes, 3 utilities for 3, so cannot delay in finishing 2 houses with my limited movement.
Terry and John are welcome to try and put the trailer tent on the stand / plot, but they say no camping on the plot. They said at Stoneleigh, that breaking the rules ( Manufacturers must have a stand, if the club still has a manufacturer,, and no selling of goods unrelated to the club, no over night camping and any rules which are disregarded, the club will be asked to leave the grounds immediately.
However, I will back Terry if we can say ( if we need to ) This trailer tent is the kitchen for the Members, and has always been present for BBQ Saturday and Sunday breakfast (( for Members only ), although Terry ( Terryrob ) and John ( Gromit ) always seem to bring plenty of food to feed the occational none members )) Terry ( and others ) have financed all this for the last approx 10 years. I will have my own 2 burner camping stove if we encounter any problems.
Hope to see known faces and possibly new faces at Newark. It's only £ 5 to get in ( + I think £ 10 / 15 for passenger when arriving in a kit car going to be displayed on the stand / plot ).
EDIT - SEE NEXT LIST [2] FOR CAMPING INFO
Graham Wood.

George, you can turn up on Friday and camp as I understand. It is being run by Grovenor who run Stoneleigh so the same arrangements. Just the one tent on the pitch and Graham is putting up the club marquee so we will be down the camping area. We can group together easily I would think. There has always been a camping area at Newark but we and others have always had room to camp on the club pitch but allas not this year. Looking at the plan other clubs have the same size area and are much more populated clubs, thats gonna be interesting. Whatever we will have fun.
