December will be remembered as the month I spent more time in hospital since I had my knee replaced only this time it was my heart or rather the ECU part in car terms.
I was feeling a bit rough and tired so off to the health center and see my doctor, she took one look at the readout of an ECG and blood pressure test and put me in an ambulance to the Costa del Sol hospital, do da do da, where I spent 20 hours in an observation chair hooked up to a monitor.
Why? well my blood pressure has been high for years but this time it was 'down' to 147/100 but my PULSE was over 130bpm and would not respond to medication, I ended up in a bed hooked up and on a drip for 24 hours until my pulse has come down to 120 and a stable BP and at 23:00 of home.
10 days later, sitting in the car waiting for my missus to shop I felt really bad, hard to breath and dizzy, so off to the health center again and again off to hospital, do da, do da. Again pulse over 130 but diastolic pressure very low so again in the 'lazy boy' and on a drip but nothing moving over 24 hours so back into a bed and a change of treatment, still nothing, so despite the fact I had only been on anticoagulants 20 days, (Doc wanted a month), they went for a 'reboot' called a 'cardioversion' where they stop your heart and reboot it with a defibrillator, this was done three times apparently, (I was sound a sleep) and they got it down a bit and then a change of drugs got it down to below 110bpm, doctor wanted to get it down to below 100 on average but 110 was the best we could do at the time.
So I was calling 'er in doors' for a lift home at midnight and off home to the best tasting cheese, ham and pickle sandwich ever as I had nothing to eat for three days.
Currently feeling better but definitely taking it easy with 140/85 and 75 being average readings now but NO I will not change your head gasket Ms. not for any money, (don't need it anyway) but I have got the Suzuki Burgman 400 'mongrel' running, so 1999 X will take a 2002 K2 engine, eventually.
So I will still be hanging about for a bit longer. making 77 was a landmark and I hope to get at least another 10 to 12 years in.
Brother, Bob the builder has done great with his Mk1 Cimbria in Alabama and Jose in Malaga is making progress getting Ukhozi legal in Spain so still connected.
Up date
Back in for a scheduled cardioversion at the excellent Costa del Sol hospital in Marbella. Slide off to sleep and woke feeling very good and all went well. Back home after a bread roll and olive oil and a cup of coffee, (decafe of course) and home in time for tea. So tachycardia (fast pulse) under control and down around 55-60, Back in again in a month to get the arrhythmia sorted with more shock treatments this time in the new Estepona hospital. Good job the heart muscle is actually in good shape an strong. Just like our cars, it's the electrics that let them down.
