Well at least Chaz is taking it seriously!!!

Well I'm really feeling a lot better these days. If I can keep the jogging up and get back to my normal 10 to 20 miles a week the fat will roll off.
Then I can regain my usual racing snake figure.
And give Linda a run for her money!

OK!
But nothing further than a marathon?
Name your distance!
It's gonna take me a while to build up speed and endurance again cos' I gotta watch the old M.E. but you're ON!

Okey Doke. Shall we say 4 miles? I think Jason may be training quietly in the Dog and Duck. Hang on a minute - isn't 3 to 6 miles what you've been running for the last umpteen years?Chaz

Actually yes 4 miles is prob the best distance you could've chosen for me actually. Can make it further if you like.

I can barely walk over Dartmoor (my legs are too short ), never mind run! I will if you will tho ;D

Mmmm........
Tricky one this.
If what Linda said is true then I have a chance of coming 2nd in the Dartmoor jaunt (assuming Alex isn't bluffing!). But it will take about six months to get my endurance up to 20 miles!
On the other hand Linda reckons her 4 mile pace is about 7':30" . My best ever time was 8'32". Which means 2nd place again (assuming Alex doesn't run).
So where will the 4 mile course be?
Flat or hilly?

26 1/2 mins over 4 miles - I still think they musta timed that wrong!! & then all my friends said "you did well for a veteran" Hilly suits me as my normal run is very steep up & downs. Nearly killed me the first time I did it after running on the level. I thought I was fit until then! If you want a laugh then try to make me run over Dartmoor. The ground is so scrubby & bad that I will just keep falling over ;D

Ye Gods that's 6':37" a mile!
Norfolk's as flat as a pancake.
I think I'd better resign myself to coming second! I'll have to find a few hills while I'm in Tewkesbury for this training.

Dartmoor! don't talk to me about bloody Dartmoor! It was on Dartmoor that, in 1960, my army career was cut short when stumbling over those same rocks near Princetown with a 20 Lb pack and big army ammo boots on that I pulled about every tendon, ligament and muscle in both legs, ended up in Shorncliff military hospital for ages and got booted out and disabled with a pension.

Nothing to fear from me Chaz. Two stone overweight and a knackered ankle from years back means that the only way I'd competitive is if I brought the RV! ;D

That's better! I'm only one and a half stones overweight and I have an SS. Back into third place then.

Good news ;D
I just got a text from Simon. He had to run a few yards to catch a train recently & was so concerned by his fitness levels that he is now in training for the race!
David & Peter can still compete. If they can have a wheelchair section in the London Marathon, I'm sure we can have one in our EOC run.

Hmmm...
I can just imagine wheelchairs down those steep hills. They'll be in the lead until the first corner!
Mind you, when a kit car bunny gets hold of a wheelchair, in a couple of shakes of a rusty spanner, it'll have wide wheels, a lawnmower engine, and lowered suspension........
3 x half a mile today, with 2 minute recovery in between.
Simon's got long legs. Does he know how to use them?
Chaz.

You are doing well with the running Chaz. How are you finding it?
(We will see when we all race whether Simon knows how to use them!)

Obviously my pace is very slow at the moment but muscle recovery is better than at any time over the last 15 months. Energy is increasing and the fat is starting to shift. All signs that the metabolism is getting moving again. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the M.E. is on the way out now. However I doubt that I'll be any threat to your first place. Simon is the Dark Horse in this race. If he trains properly he will beat me on speed!
Chaz.
