Please note that as of 1st December, having received no objections RAM; Graham Wood is now our new Chairman, the rest of the committee is as yet to be firmed up but selection based on volunteers for positions will be on the same format of objections received.
Please support the club and it will do it's best to support you in any way it can.
Please note; this is regarding the Eagle Owners Club and not the forum which is separate and self funding .

The SS MkI kicked off the Eagle brand in 1981 by Dutton and Breeze and was a copy of the Cimbria (less a couple of styling changes) from the States which started in 1971 along with the Stirling which came from the MkI Nova by Richard Oaks. 1986 Eagle cars were sold to his cousin Roy Budd.

I think one would be OK with Lambo doors as they fit on the vertical body below the screen but Enzo doors fit higher on the window frame so not such a good idea for a SS. For the SS gull wing to go Lambo the hinge would be much simpler as it would not need to 'kick out' first like a 'normal car' does but lift straight up.
I am Looking at lambo doors too, when the basics are done, like getting the bugger to go and stop.

ALL SSs have the vents on the rear wings, apart from the 2+2 of course. All come blanked off to be worked on or not as required. The doors are what are known as Enzo doors after the Ferrari of that name. One can buy a set of hinges that convert the doors to 'Lambo' , not cheap and would require a bit of reinforcement to the 'A' post, something I have pondered on in the past.

It is amazing how people take a 10K historic car and turn it into 2K of parts piece of junk.

OK... More measurements taken and latest advice onboard... Maximum width of carb air filters (in old money) 33 1/2" Maximum width of inlet manifolds 33" Opening between inner faces of wheel arches 30 1/2" Opening between inner faces of upper engine bay lip 31" Solution, after cutting the top opening to clear the filter cans, when in situ, I need to cut the wheel arches too. The vertical angle of the inner arches is 25 degrees into the bay at the lower edges, I need to make them vertical to drop the body over the inlet manifolds, even after first removing the filter cans. Thank G for angle grinders! After some more cutting, glassing and extra large economy box of expletives, I now have 34" to 35" clearance through the engine bay, at least at the point at which I expect the carbs and manifolds to sit... Next job, get the chassis complete, rolling and ready to mount the body. What could possibly go wrong!?Just about everything but plough on regardless, seems the engine bay on your car is narrow compared to mine, is it an earlier model? One trick I caught on from another forum, when such cut outs are made is to make half boxes from fibre glass by cutting an old 5 litre container (washer fluid, coolant etc) and laying up inside it. I am making one to go over the cylinders that poke through the bulkhead and thinking of from rear wing vents to inner wing as filter intakes, chop the container about until it fits and them glass up.

Hi there Chris. At the moment life or rather someone else's is getting in the way and changing my entire lifestyle, Mum in law has throat cancer and can't get out of bed so wife has to be there 5 times a day to tube feed her and clean up which puts me in the domestic mode more than usual. Poor old Ukhozi has not been touched in a couple of months, in fact I have only made it to the 'shed' a couple of times in the last 3 months. I hope to get "a bit more done" soon. I do get to make use of all the TV streaming I pay for though. Major problem with most people is motivation and cash as well as skill and space, all covered in my write up, "So you want to build a kit car?". There are many, like Chaz' and his SS with the Sierra rear end and inboard disc who have great cars ready to go but don't touch them, which is a shame as cheap short term insurance and quarterly tax makes it possible now.

Hi Peter, I don't mind looking after the forum. There hasn't been much activity on here lately although a new forum member joins every now and again. It would be a shame to loose the ability to post on the forum but I can understand that's probably inevitable as members slowly drop off. Maybe it really is time to freeze this forum and let people move over to the euro-nova forum. I already made that provision on the euro-nova forum some time ago with SS and RV sections in agreement with Dan Giddings (bobbybrown) who also hosts the Eagle Owners site. Can't say take up has been amazing though. Looking after the forum is not a big job but does require some dedication as it means logging on at least 3 to 4 times a week, I do it every morning, deleting spam post, mostly East European, Approving new applicants and posting replies to keep builders and restorers motivated and informed. The forum is hosted on Proboards free with some adverts on the banner so it runs it's self in that respect. The web site as mentioned is hosted by Dan and cost a little over 32 GBP a year, something else we have to keep chasing Helen to pay. The site does take some work and is done on MS Front-page HTTP (spell check is a must), so easy to do but keeping the register, members cars, show dates, etc. up to date does take some time and sadly an area I have neglected lately. So Chris, it is all yours, I will send you a PM with all the secret stuff on this week. Good luck. Peter

If correctly formed air boxes are not a restriction and in fact can produce increases in power due to change from low to hi pressure. all very technical and one of the areas I blanked out on at the Kawasaki 750 Turbo course I attended. Using DellOrto's would have been easy as the Alfa intakes are perfect to face inwards to a single air box and a filter But Solex/Kadron not so easy. There should be plenty of room for Solex or Kaldron etc as the Dell's are quite large and there is about 20mm clear each side. .

Nope. The only "mod" was around the filters. I haven't cut the front away at all, just inserted the oil cooler there, (in hindsight it would have been better in the left side behind the wheel with the oil filter), it might be a later Mk3 shape?
The firewall sits across the engine/gearbox joint. The firewall itself is a custom beetle one trimmed to fit. The throttle linkage in front of the shroud has long gone in favour of an all cable and pulley arrangement. $350 in USA but I made it for 30 pounds.
All the tubes.
The HT cables were also run internally at this time, before I 'invented' the alloy cross tube for them.
The water channel is more than enough to cope with even the monsoon rain we get here. The box is a Scat breather box, slightly modified to have a return to the oil filler tube. There is a breather in each valve cover. The rest are fuel lines.
Just leave about 1/2" around the filters and you will be OK.

Don't worry, the inlet manifolds and carbs fit within the inner rear wings. You will need to route the opening around the air filters though by about 1 1/2" old money and make a new lip as I have, If I can do it so can anyone. Mine is a pretty standard twin cab' set up apart from the cable operated system.

Urgent and important information. I have struggled on with the E.O.C. for over 25 years and at 76 on last day this year I am letting it go.
I need someone with the time and skills to take over the web side of things- If no one comes forward I will make this forum 'read only' from 1/1/2022.
The position of Chair person is being handed over to RAM, (Graham Wood) as Terry Robinson also would like to step down.
The position of secretary / treasurer is also open as Helen Scott has not been able to undertake the duties of the position and members are not being retained and new applications processed.
Graham is willing to take on the job of restructuring the CLUB (not forum) and unless Terry, Gary or myself receive objections by end of November 2021 Graham will take over. on 1st December 2021.

Good news is the left eye is great after the cataract op'. still have to take it easy but soon be back on the car.
One thing leading to another in the shed, I have the SS up on axle stands with the wheels off so I can do the master cylinders and bleed the brakes but they are needed to do the gearbox mounts and guibo on the E30 so better get thing moving as I want to sell the e30 and I like to have an 'honest car' with no known problems for the new owner.
Eye is still in the convalescent mode so no crawling under cars at the moment, only have one pair of eyes.

Well said that man, Thanks ram for posting that, it will be interesting to see what transpires on the day. Below picture is what I put on my cars It's half a sheet of A4 paper. Why yellow ? Because the most vibrant; clean; stands out; easy to read etc, is black text on yellow background.
Similar to below go on ANY cars I take to shows, and for eagle owners, it should be mandatory.
A bit too much infomation on mine, but shows, without asking, it's maintained, started regularly, and I KNOW what oil to use in a 44 year old engine, and why it has to be changed every 6 to 12 months AND it has to have oodles of zinc in it. ( Classic oil or Deisel engine oil ) click to see full size View AttachmentJust for info. -- 1976 eagles and Lincoln Have to use none-ethanol petrol, ( Esso Synergy super unleaded 99 octane, contains A )zero: B) or E5 of 5% instead of E10 with 10% All depends on the location of the Esso station - ( Lincoln runs on 82 octaine if was available ) and zinc rich engine oil..
ethanol destroys alloy carbs and rubber, AND dont store ethanol in tank for more than 12 months because it absorbs water, which not only rots your tanks, also attacks rubber diaphrams, cork and plastic floats, and fuel lines in older cars.
see ....
And now with E10 it is even worse and even new cars are not E10 compatible, three of the latest Citroen are not E10 friendly for example. I have to clean out the carb on my Suzuki AN400 three times a years and my DelLorto DRHL 40s every time I leave the car standing.

Life getting in the way again, this time a cataract operation on my left eye, wondered why I had to keep cleaning my left lens. Optician said I was down to 40% on left so off to see my doctor in the health centre and 6 weeks later off to the hospital and what a lovely place the High Resolution clinic is in Benalmádena. One could actually eat off of the floor , appointment was for 09:30 and at 09:35 a nurse gave me a kit to put on after stripping. At 09:40 I was visited by the surgeon who told be what was going to happen and almost straight away I was wheeled into the nurses station for pre-op. At 10:15 I was wheeled into the immaculate operating theatre and under a LX3 unit. Half an hour later I was sitting in a chair and waiting for the nurse who gave me all the info I needed for after care and an appointment the following day at the Costa del Sol hospital. dressed and home again by 13:00 Next day at 09:30 straight in to see doc who said it was all OK and they gave me some drops and a pair of cool wrap-around 'Stevie Wonder' sunglasses. I am nor supposed to bend over, strain, lift and avoid bright lights. Back in 2 1/2 weeks on the 29th for final check up. All free of course. Compare that with NHS
On the car front. New gearbox mounts and guido for the E30 and I must get the brake pipes reconnected on the SS and the system bled, again.
Bergman 400 has the carb apart again thanks to E5 fuel and a new can of carb' cleaner has arrived, thank you Amazon.

It has been tried by TEAC which you may remember included me for a while. It will need a completely new chassis to take MX5 donor. Any attempt to fit the Mazda to the Eagle chassis, even the later one, will result in yet another project in a skip.
The car is far from "rare" as new ones can be bought and there are 82 Ford and 21 VW SSs listed so far. Yes Peter, radical alteration or probably much easier to build a new chassis. There would undoubtedly be some body mods too. But what an interesting project for a enthusiastic capable Mechanic. It would be good to see a successful Mazda project, there have been a few similar including MGF/Lotus, etc but none have been even half finished. It isn't the competent of the mechanic that is in question, it is the practicability and economical reality of it all. Without exception all the wishful projects to date have been by people with multiple projects and rather than having just one headache they seem to have a yard full of half finished vehicles.
This NOT my opinion but a testament of fact. The few that have been finished have been a concentrated effort on one vehicle.
I am in the multi-vehicle group but more by necessity than choice as I have to maintain three cars and a bike as well as the SS.

Good to see some good progress. Strange seeing the pedals halfway down the floor like that, explains the gear-shift behind the handbrake now, you must be sitting in the rear seat area,
