I' m having a little fiddle with my RV every day but progress is slow. Currently have the dash ripped out and trying to make de-mister ducting for the screen. I got a really good set of 225-75x15 General Grabber tyres for it last week so now I need to re-furb the alloys before I fit them. The front end seems to sit a bit low, so a new set of springs will be fitted. I didn't know until last week that the Mk3, Mk4 and Mk5 Cortinas all had different length front springs (the early Mk3 being the longest). It looks like I might have a go at making my own hard doors unless a set turn up somewhere. The early ones with sliding windows would do nicely. I'll post up some photo's when something interesting happens. John

Well we are all still around then and I am glad to see people are making progress, it looks like there will be more cars ready for next years shows. I have had a few issues with my rv, on a drive over to Derricks house a few weeks back it developed a nasty rattle somewhere in the running gear. When I checked it out the next day I found the passenger side caliper hanging on one very loose bolt !, all locktighted up now. Also I found the same side wishbone tie rod loose at the front where it goes through the sub frame, it now drives without jumping around so much. I was hoping to go to the Exeter show but my missis has booked us a weekend away as its our wedding aniversary on the 26th. Why do things clash like that .

I had a look at my headlight wiring yesterday as dip beam seamed very dim and slow to react. All the switching and relays worked ok with the headlights unplugged so I was a bit puzzled !. What I discovered is that I had assumed that the centre pin on the bulb was the earth. I thought it seamed like an earthing fault but the earths were good. I broke the glass on an old bulb and checked the pins against the fillaments and earth and found that earth is not the centre pin at all ! . Its the right one looking at the pins with the middle one at the top. So after swapping a few wire around they work fine ;D.

Had to use my demister this morning... the towel and open windows worked as well as ever, very reliable :-) Yep, that sounds just like my 3 previous RV's. Even my Wrangler suffered bad misting problems in the winter (it was a joy with the roof off though). This time I'm determined to have a good de-mister. I plan on using the Eagle 12 months of there year once it's finished. If this old girl hadn't guzzled so much unleaded, I'd still have it today. John

Back to the OP. I am very concerned about the lack of posts on the forum, compared to the same time last year we are about 80% down and the only thing I can put it down to giving we have the same amount of people with eagles is the way the forum is now rather than the 'open' one we used to have.
Either that or everyone is totally apathetic and see an Eagle as just another knacked car and only less than a handful give a dam about the remaining Eagles future. When I see an SS or RV being broken just because it is short a screen, (now available), or it's a Ford based one and will need a test, I feel sick! Do people not realise these cars are IRREPLACEABLE, never to see production ever again and not just some easily obtainable, cheap, disposable piece of junk like a Ford Fiesta?

I am with you on this topic Peter. All the forums that I use are down on posts this year and paid up memberships are down in a couple of the clubs that we are members of I think that the economic climate has more to do with lack of interest rather than one reason. I believe it is several things, Work, Money (or shortage of it) all the new/fresh rules appearing all the time..... to name but a few. I may be wrong but these are certainly the reasons that I would give if asked As for the breaking of the kits what can I say? it is still the same reasons. I could break my RV and sell the parts to the restorer's for about double the price that I could sell it as a kit car as I expect could any SS owner, be it VW or Ford. So Money is the problem again.

My other car club now has a record number of paid up members but the activity on the forum is much less than it used to be. I just think that everyone has a lot on their plate at the moment and the cars are being pushed down the priority list. Also, the crap weather we had last summer didn't help to fire the enthusiasm. I'm sure things will improve once we get past Christmas.

Past Christmas, Well that could be anything up to star-date 3298.2, I am genuinely worried about the future of the Eagle and can see there only being a hand full of cars on the road in a years time. Even the stalwarts currently restoring or rebuilding cars now may be put off by the expense and trouble of putting what is a part time fun car on the road, Of the 140+ cars on the register how many are road going? About 14, that's 10%! It's not like a lot of owners use their cars as daily transport, I intend to drive mine daily as a replacement for the A170 CDI Mercedes crapmobile, (subject to getting Spanish registration and finding some Spanish company to insure it) but keeping the BMW E30 I have restored.

I still don't get the lack of posts on the forum. for instance, in the last 24 hours alone and nothing for the last three days at all! colivent1, Gary, roadrunner1, petecotterill, readingeaglerv, pateve666, maverick, trike, and davetrials Have all been on but not had anything to say, why not? Not done anything on the car? Cat got yer tounge? Or worse, someone pissed you off and you don't want to post on here. let us know so we can improve the forum and move on. When I go on the Euro-Nova and Stirling sites I am surprised by the amount of activity compared to ours and we have more registered members (363 now) Peter

Day off tomorrow, and Monday..... Flyfishing for a bit of fun on Saturday - never tried before!!!!! Rest of the weekend, hoping to tidy up the interior for Newark, lower the drivers seat......the top hat has to be lowered! And maybe a new dashboard. Wheel carrier to be fitted to the rear, and hopefully a good ol Sharp Radio CAssette and a couple of speakers somewhere.... Only a few jobs - oh and secure exhaust properly one more time, before V6 goes in after Newark - now that shoudl be fun:-) What else is everyone upto? Ed Dave Trials - Newark?

I come on here every evening just to make sure that you are not upsetting everybody ;D I am working on the RV at the moment but can't be bothered to write about when I get in from work. But I am taking pic's as I go and I WILL get round to posting it all on here sometime after Newark. We have a local show that we are attending Sunday, it's the first that we have had around these parts for a while (the weather stopped all play last year) Then there's Newark and the following Saturday we are going to be guests of Adrian flux's (Via other owners club) I know it's a kit car insurance promotion but it's another reason to take the car out "Oh and there's a free meal"
