Roy. you could always bring your Eagle along to Peterborough show Mine/ours is in the garage still being repaired from where i carefully placed it in a ditch. The windscreen is out and i am in the process of lining up the bottom of the shuttle which was never done to my liking by Eagle cars when i brought it (this is taking a bit longer than exepted) Will be at the show but will be camping with our freinds from Jago again.

Well, if I was anywhere near Peterborough and my car was ready I would. But as I'm not and it isn't, sadly I can't. However, thank you for the invite.

Hi All I am off work at moment still with this blasted sciatica that started around April I should be sorted during September, hospital waiting lists etc etc. This was, as you are all aware the Stoneleigh pitch - A similar photo posted by NigelP21 was the Newark pitch, and lets be honest future shows this year WILL be similar. Those of you who keep up with this boards postings and E bay will know active show members {Nathan and moonlightmaggie for 2} have sold their Rvs - 2 in the case of mm. Roy is passionate about the eagle club, but on a budget has to wait until the right one comes along. He is also a people person who helps others and is a good friend to many.He does all he can to promote the club and like me does not like to see an empty pitch at shows. Our Rv is up and running but not taxed. Welsh weather what it is we haven't had enough sun to warrant using it - not even enough fine weather to work on it on drive. Once Screen is moved, one of the 3 hardtops must fit and the doors hung - sounds easy but a dummy run shows that locks foul roll bar. I am tormenting our local coach trimmer to make a soft top from my old pattern. Once a Roof is sorted ( and my Back ) we will use Rv to come to shows Could I ask a few questions and state a few obvious facts some have been discussed before: The web site is well out date! The members only part is not being used ( maybe this should be there) Has the committee lost heart? has any thing been done to re elect a committee? No use at all at shows. How are Ghost/invisible members getting on member/committee only site? I AM NOT POINTING FINGER AT ANYONE ---- I AM HAPPY BEING AN EAGLE RV OWNER AND HAVE NO INTENTION OF SELLING IT,I WANT TO ENJOY DRIVING IT,NOT ONLY DO I WANT THE CLUB TO CONTINUE BUT TO IMPROVE AND GET STRONGER. I will try to make Sunday - no promises cos of back - I cannot sit still for long! We need to get a few ideas going on how to make the Eagle pitch more attractive. If SSSSooooo Many eagles are being rebuilt we may need a bigger site next year to house them all It is disappointing but understandable that some older members have more than one kit or moved to a different marque - please remember your Knowledge and assistance is valuable to the newer members --- a few cries for help recently have remained unanswered.

Although I've only been a member of this forum for a short time I have to confess that I'm somewhat amazed by the lack of correspondence amongst the forum members.
I should add that I'm also a member of a number of other motoring related forums and I can say with certainty that this is by far the quietest. I appreciate that this is a small club because of the number of vehicles produced and I'm not a fan of idle forum chit chat but I think I've probably posted more often than any other member since I joined a couple of weeks ago.
I had printed off the membership form with every intention of sending off my joining fee but I'm having second thoughts about it as I have doubts that I'll get anything worthwhile in return.
As a newbee, I posted in the appropriate section but, to my surprise, not one person has replied with a 'welcome to the forum' message. Don't get me wrong, I'm not that sensitive that I'm upset about it but if I were a long-standing member I would post some sort of reply even if it was just out of politeness! It doesn't really encourage potential members who make the effort to say 'Hi, here I am & this is what I've got' when they get blanked. (OK, so now I'm sounding paranoid!)
Unfortunately, because of my location and the fact that the car is off the road, I can't attend any of the shows just yet. When I do get it back in action, I will do my level best to get to at least a couple. But is there a problem in letting someone who has gone to the trouble of organising a stand know if you can or cabn't attend, it appears so!
As a newbee, I can't comment of committees or how out-of date the website is. All I know is that I registered my SS on the appropriate page and, for all I know, the information has disappeared into a big void. There is no list of owners & former owners as I expected and no reply to acknowledge that I had posted the info.
I apologise if I sound like a moaning interloper but I had hoped for a little more from this site, given the number of times Eagles appear on Ebay, I though there would be a much more active forum and club.
Perhaps everyone is busy in the garage getting ready for next year.

Hi Mike
If you look at the 'newbees' thread it will be apparent that 'It is the norm' to welcome new members.
unfortunately being a reasonably newbee - 2nd year and the owner of a RV I do not know the build spec of the SS, there are members still using this site that know the SS intimately and unfortunately you will have to be patient and hopefully they will reply, or maybe one or two could be pm'ed - peter in Spain I am sure would help as would Chas, the club at mo is very quiet - and there is a lot less SS's than Rvs about.
You are correct ---- There is no indication on this site as to a site being booked at Peterborough - must av been overlooked
Maybe this thread will shake a few branches so don't give in yet.

Hi Peter
I appreciate that most newbees get some reply & I'm not worried about not getting one myself. What concerns me more is a general lack of chat on the forum, even about general things. I've a reasonable amount of experience in restoring cars & playing with the occasional kit so I can probably work round any problems myself. However, I would just hate to see a club for such an interesting & diverse group of vehicles slowly die off through apathy.

I could travel 200miles each way at a cost of £100 in fuel to a show with NO camping facilities, And line the pocket of the promoter! Or I can go 1 mile down the road to my local 2 day show where ALL the proceeds go to the only Childrens Hospice in East Sussex. And go home to a warm bed overnight ;D Wadda Ya Reckon! I naturally assumed you guys would be doing Peterborough. It's only a local Country Show. You know the sort of thing! Fun Fair, Steam Engines, Classic Cars, Dog Show, Beer Tent, Hog Roast, Band, Craft Stalls, Boot Fair etc. Oh and an Off Road Course ;D

I'm still reparing and building mine. If my SS was road worthy I would be at the shows in a shot- no issues. I have a bet ruuning with a work collegue to get to some shows next year. Not much help for this year I know but just getting started with all this mechanical stuff.

Rumour has it that there is now Camping available at Peterborough! It's a shame it wasn't mentioned earlier as I'm sure it would have made a considerable difference to the numbers attending!

The organisers bowed to pressure on public camping but kit car camping was always availible on club stands from the start. We attended the show all be it will our other owners club as our eagle is not road worthy. Just as a matter of interest we in the other club had a member from Brighton drive all the way up just for saturday and then drive home Now theres a true club member The show/venue seems to work so it may happen again next year. We could do with something better than this though. Saturday Listing showing club site on plans as booked some time ago Sunday A final thought even the Rickman owners club managed 6 cars both days.

Some of the comments in the past week have angered me and I thought that I had better leave it a while before replying. It was always agreed that there would be an official stand at the Peterborough show and that I would book it. Which I duly did.
When I first got the details from the organiser it seemed that there had been an error and that the other club that I am involved with had been merged with the EOC. On speaking to the organiser he assured me that everything would be sorted out come the day.
As you can see by Gary's pictures there was a stand for us, I am lead to believe that at least one other club who had confirmation of booking did not get a stand and were directed to an open piece of ground and told to park there.

yes i can confirm that the organiser received and lost the email i sent to book a acc stand and i was not pleased so i called all our members before they set off and we all left , the show was small, i did not like the big iron barriers around every thing , it looked like roadworks,, i am ashamed to be a peterborough kitcar owner if that is the standard of show ,,was it just 2 choices of food wagon,,
detling was the same , i booked a stand to house each car and got space for less than half,(same organiser)
i wont be supporting or advertising these shows in future unless i get the apolagy in writing to pass on to our club members ,,

Jason. I agree that the rails did spoil the look some what, most of the clubs removed them or laid them down. The Sunday show was quite well attended both from public and kit car drivers (but the weather was a little better than Saturdays) so i don't know whether there will be another next year. I hope so, the organizers may need to do a little more work but it does have the potential to be a very good show. As for food stands i don't tend to pay the prices these people charge at all these shows anyway (with six of us it would cost £25+ just for a meal)

Hi,
I am not sure about what happened at Peterborough show as I didn't go so shoot me down in flames if you like........................ but wasn't this the first kit car show they did at the show ground?
Having never organised a show I imagine every show ground differs. It is something I would hate to do as, should people not perceive it as perfect, the criticism become personal - or can be taken so.
Maybe the way with Peterborough, which I believe is an awesome venue, is to feed back the comments (in the nicest possible way) to the event organisers. That way they can improve & mould the show so it best fits those that would support it.
Jason - I hate to say it but, living in Peterborough, you were hardly likely to starve because of the lack of catering facilities. Feed it back (no pun intended) to the organisers if that is how you feel.
