Can anyone advise me on the best petrol tank for a ford based SS. I was told by the guy I bought it off that he scrapped the old one because it leaked but he was told the Escort Van Tank is the best.
Can any one confirm this or suggest a better one.

An escort van tank would probably be ok as its flat on top and a good rectangular shape, you would have to weld in some rails or something to fix it to though. My mate just bought an rv and the cortina tank han just been strapped up against the floor with some foam cushening in between !
Also you might have to move the filler neck. I think you can get new escort van tanks from the dutton owners club ?

of course we are talking about the good old Mk1 and 2 escort tanks here, ;D van or estate - only drawback is with a V6 we plan our routes via fuel stations  (9 gallon tank) |
