To whom it may concern. Understandable alot of people use cheques because they like the feel when they sign and rip out that rectangular cashpaper. however i equally feel just a cool doing it online via paypal. which brings me onto my question, how about setting up membership applications online via paypal? this will intice me to join rather than having to find/apply for a new cheque book, which i always forget to do. tickle me back with a yay or nay for this.

I suspect there is a significant cost involved with paypal - can anyone confirm? Chaz.

Simon ran this by the committee some time ago.
I said no, cos I like to keep it simple for myself. If I aint gonna be involved any more then fine by me.

I saw that, but with paypal, one could just slip a cheeky 'note' in with personal details all ready for the admin to process. perhaps easier to track whose paid what for joining etc.
Im just lookin for another way to use paypal, as i cant find anything on ebay that i can justify buying at the moment....

costs the recipient about 4% to recieve the money, they're the only costs involved! quote] ....and therein lies the problem. As you are finding, unless you use the paypal account to buy stuff it is an expensive way of banking. Am I right in thinking there are costs on withdrawing funds also. Direct transfer and setting up a standing order seems the best way to avoid the whole cheque thing, to me.

& I think this is almost an exact rerun of the conversation that took place in the committee a while back!
Didn't we decide what David has just said, for the very same reasons?

ah yes, i had forgotton about the commision charges that they take from you at each transaction. i was thinking from the buyers angel. but very much impractical at lost revenue from the sellers angle! my apologies for bringing it back up again Will route out the old cheque book and get that on its way post haste!.

Good you did bring it up as I spect it is something others have wondered about too!
If it is easier for you to transfer the money then the bank details are on the membership page, so you could do it that way.
If so please pm me & let me know tho.
Thanks
