(I thought carefully about what to call this thread!) Do any of you guys remember pancake day as children? Pancakes are the horridest things you can imagine to eat & the best part is tossing them. Pancake day was cool in our house, even though they tasted nasty. My mum use to cook us a pancake each & let us toss our own. We started off just trying to flip them & soon worked out that it was more fun to try & hit the ceiling with them . Did anyone else do that? It worked really well. Once we had stuck them to the ceiling we said "Oh no mum! Look what happened. Can you make another one please?" The dog thoroughly enjoyed it also cos she got to eat the bits that peeled slowly off the ceiling. There must be someone else on this site who tried to hit the ceiling

Yeah - the toppings are ok.
It is the pancakes that leave a lot to be desired.

You must have the army recipe then. Mine taste yummy! Flour, water, egg, pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon. whisk and cook thin, flipped, not tossed.

Pancakes don't even look like something you would want to put near your face, never mind in your mouth. They don't look edible. Mum did try to fool me by telling me that, if I didn't like the lemon juice & syrup on them they would taste nice with Golden Syrup. (She must've been very keen to make me like them because we weren't allowed Golden Syrup generally cos it was too expensive.). Nothing improves pancakes & why go to all the bother anyway when you can just spread syrup on toast Still I notice no one else has admitted to flipping them on to the ceiling!
