As it is Christmas & I wanted to get into the spirit of thimgs I invited a few friends over on Tuesday. Knowing that Chaz is working locally I invited him along.
One of my neighbours has no legs - they were amputated a few years ago, & Chaz was talking to him about Douglas Bader & what he achieved in spite of his similar disability. Tracy (legless man's wife) wasn't really paying attention to the conversation, but thought she ought to join in, so she suddenly pipes up "Who's this Chaz? A friend of yours?" ;D
Anyway Chaz, I saw her last night & she said she isn't really as stupid as she came across, just she wasn't paying attention to the conversation. She did realise her mistake when her remark was greeted by stunned silence around the table.

Hi Sam,
I never thought for one second that Tracy had less than 100% of her marbles. As you say, she glided skillfully from one conversation to another with what would have been, in any other situation, a perfectly safe conversational gambit. The result was spectacular and certainly brightened up my mundane attempts at verbal intercourse.
With regard to the title of this thread I must hasten to point out that I read "Reach for the Sky" by Paul Brickhill, as a boy. I did not know Douglas Bader, nor indeed have I ever been his grandfather.
I must go now as the nurse has readied my bathchair.
