Nothing to do with cars in the nothing to do with cars area - jason will be so proud of me . Anyone know anything about making houses warm? It isn't even icy cold yet & I am freezing . Have an oil burning rayburn that does the heating. That is getting hot, but the radiators aren't heating the house as they should be. The radiators are hotter at the top than they are at the bottom. How can that be if the hot water goes in at the bottom Any ideas would be cool. I will try anything to be hot

Hiya Samss U gotta go up in the roof and check if your header tank is full. U should have two tanks up there, Ones a big one and the heating header will be a small one. Once you've found out make sure the waters running into it by pressing the float. then U gotta go down and bleed the radiators. Do you have a pump controlled by a thermostat?? Gotta make sure the pump is running when the Stat is on. If you ain't getting hot water at the taps? Could be the threeway valve sticking, if it is a fully pumped system? or it will be the tank in the roof as described above, if it is a gravity system. More likely if the house is more than 20 years old. Shame I didn't know I was down Exeter in the Nova last W/E could have had a look for you.

hey lindy, isnt a rayburn a crappy vented system that is like a steel box on the side of an oven? im guessing this is an old system and probs full of crap like rust etc it the rads are hot at the top not the bottom.... thats my opinion baby, thing you need the whole system fluched and re-primed with inhibitor! what you rally want is a new heating system!! a nice combi... xxxx ;D ;D

So which is it Sam? Fully pumped or gravity fed? I think Alex may be right. You could get away with flushing and inhibiting. But you need to try bleeding the radiators first. I'm still down Tewks Tues + Weds if you want me to have a go. Chaz.
