It's on a "Q" plate, so will never qualify for Historic Vehicle Status. It will always be subject to MOT regulations and paid excise duty.

I understood it depends on when the Q reg car was registered. taken from DVLA website: "You do not need to get an MOT if the vehicle was first registered more than 40 years ago and no ‘substantial changes’ have been made to the vehicle in the last 30 years." If I'm correct then mine was registered in 91 so I can apply for historic status in 2031, 8 years and counting, unless they change the rules of course.
