Going back to the mid 90's when I first joined the Eagle Owner's club (034) and we had a very active club scean and show attendence was quite good, we used to have a 6 page, A4 monthly magazine sent out but it was always a case of lack of contributers that was the problem, many a time it was saved by my build reports (blackfire or backfire?) cooking tips and totally unrelated stuff, coupled with increasing production and distribution costs, even at the old 'paper rate', saw the end of it. It takes a hard working and dedicated editor to see even a quarterly magazine out and these days it can all be done on-line anyway, (and before it's said) how many members are not on-line? We could do a page every couple of months but really it would be for those who don't log onto the message board where all the latest stuff is posted anyway, and again, how many is that? All the stuff listed above is on this board already.

thankyou novalight for your idea, sounds good,
peter, i dont do cooking tips, and i never asked for contributers, and it gives members something to keep, (although it would never be a magazine up to your standard)anyway its just ideas at the moment,

Already on the case Jason I had thought this was a good idea too and, yes, I know it will be a lot of work. I had a few thoughts on content which included club structure forthcoming and past shows feature car(s) ideally some serialised rebuilds for sale/wanted hints and tips (again I have some of the old mags which could be plundered for ideas) history of the marque you could even get some of the more useful forum discussions 'edited' down for print. I appreciate that this is very much an online club and I am very comfortable with the internet but I am sure that there are a number of members that aren't. I thought we could have a .pdf version for those that check email which has the benefit of being free and a print version for those that aren't e-literate. I even have the start of an RV story from 'terryrob' reunited with an RV he built and sold and then bought back.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying it is not a good idea or that there are not good, well intentioned people who would start the ball rolling or that I would be the last to contribute, but consistency and dedication month on month will be the problem. I agree there should be a lot more to show for being a member apart from various discount offers and a key ring but I'm not sure this is it. I am just giving the benefit of my experience with the EOC magazine in the past (and a couple of hundred Lib-Dem focus's, a few Licensed breakers Association (LIBRA) quarterly mags and our scuba club mag over the past 15 years).

Great Idea........ Provided it is kept at a Non Club Funded FUN Level! The entire Cobra Club yearly membership fees, And a sizeable chunk of the reserve kitty are used up in the production of 5/6 per year Mags just to keep the non online members happy!! It is bleeding the club to death!!

I could do a bit on the SS chassis, steering and brakes (bringing them up to a standard for lower profile tyres)

Good idea Jason, There's space available. 'course we'd have to watermark it with the EOC, don't want anyone thinking it's a "rip off" do we. It can then be seen on Mr Rhino's favourite website.

Banners or no site? I don't get the rational behind the watermarks though. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jase you could make the center spread pictures of the ECO Stand from Stones and Newark, thats two pages. Defiantly needs a caption this photo section. How about a word search? I'm sure I have software to create them somewhere in my loft. I'll do one as my contribution. I will even try and make it car related if you like! ;D
