Get to Stoneleigh 2022 OR the kitty gets it....
We have ALL had 2 years to get our cars on the road from finish of Stoneleigh 2019.
2020 was cancelled ( 1 year ) 2021 saw 2 eagles approx. ( 2 years ) And now only 4 and a half months till next one in May 2022, but may be re-scheduled, we don't know.
I WILL try and finish mine, by taking plenty of pain killers .
What's YOUR excuse for not attending any shows where the Eagle Owners Club have a pitch ?
No point in having a car that's not capable of driving
2 hrs 15 mins from London 2 Hrs 46 mins from Southport ( my home ) 130 miles each way
3 Hrs 8 mins from Middlesborogh- 187 miles each way + takes only 20 / 22 mins extra time than me.
Rant finished ... see you at the next Newark or Stoneleigh show ( Not attending is NOT an option )
.

Every year it never ceases to amaze me the reasons for not having the car ready and attending. I know of a few that are ready and just need a short term insurgence and a quarters tax to make it to the MoT and the shows. I would love to see some of you guys back on the road, if only for few weeks,
Me? Well I do have a fairly good excuse being only 45 minuets short of driving off of Europe completely and the reciprocal arrangement on driving licences not sorted out. (Brit expatiates will not be able to drive on UK licences in Europe as of 1/1/22 as things stand and visa-versa).

I know of a few that are ready and just need a short term insurgence and a quarters tax to make it to the MoT and the shows. I would love to see some of you guys back on the road, if only for few weeks. If I don't coerce, cajole, rant, then most Eagles in limbo will end on the scrap heap, with seized engines, brakes, perished suspension rubbers, perished oil seals, out of date oils that no longer protect engines and gearboxes, solidified grease in wheel bearings, solidified grease on window mechanisms and motors making them very slow to operate ( not really applicable to Eagles ) But both my lincolns, both 1976 years, have had above problems. one has only done 18,500 miles in 45 years, and has had to have all oil seals replaced, .grease cleared and replaced, , . and gaskets dont last for ever ever, and with ethonal petrol, ( even normal petrol )blocks, corrodes seals and carbs. & automatic Cortina chokes seize up, if not moved for years. ( steel shaft in alloy housing = eventual sezure if not oiled when hot every year )
Keep your eagles roadworthy, MOVING to circulate the grease, and get the grease warm, so it flows where its needed. Oils and grease deteriorate after years of none use. ( even with use ) Of my 7 cars, those that are running, but not used are started ever week, to operating temperature, AND even with no insurance, tax and m.o.t. ( SORN ) are driven round he block every month till the engine temp rises, then falls to show the thermostat has opened and radiator water has replaced engine water. The brakes and disks are then kept free from sticking, ( usually ) provided all moving parts were greased recently.
Keeping a car in a garage, not used at all is the worst thing anyone can do, with the damp British weather, and I have paid the price for that. I too was guilty of neglect ( but only once ) It triples the time and effort to get back on the road.
So come on forum members, finish that car.

I shall endeavour to get my Eagle roadworthy by May 2022. Progress is good and, excepting force majeure, I shall definitely be driving north from London to Stoneleigh in my RV to the 2022 show. Ram - do you have a prospected date for the show? I cannot find any details on the Grosvenor Shows website and they are not answering the telephone. I have sent an email to them and am waiting a reply. Thank you.

Stoneleigh Kit car show is normally in May. Upon the second lock down,2021, they changed it to September,
Now Boris, with the "Mild headache Omicron" variant, 3rd lock down, it may well change again to September, or be cancelled.
No one knows, and I don't think the organisers will know yet what date 2022 will be, and I would expect that 8 months after previous one, may be a bit too early.
No one knows yet, unfortunately.

Well the RV has been totally rewired and has road tax, mot, insurance, new tyres, new heated seats (I am getting on a bit) I just need some time to save up enough money to pay for the fuel. Might try and find a rolling road on the way from Mid Wales

CONFIRMED DATES Stoneleigh 2022
Sunday and Monday 1st & 2nd May 2022
However, at time of writing, you still can't book advanced tickets.
YOU ONLY HAVE 12 WEEKS TO GET YOUR CARS READY and that's it - no more - but you have had 2 and a half years to prepare - before; since 2019 ( 2020 was cancelled and 2021 saw 1 SS & 1 RV )
You have an asset and SS prices are rising.

-------- Forwarded Message -------- Subject: Stoneleigh and Newark KIT CAR SHOWS 2022! Date: Tue, 08 Feb 2022 14:41:55 +0000 From: Grosvenor Shows <info@grosvenorshows.co.uk>
Dear Clubs,
After a long battle trying to secure Stoneleigh for 2022 I have finally managed to get a contract sorted that works for us to be able to keep the UK’s longest running Kit Car Show going again. So I am pleased to attach the booking forms for both Stoneleigh and Newark. We have the old blocks available this year so we will be reverting back to a pre covid layout and I will be allowing clubs the opportunity to rebook the site they had in 2019/2020 for Stoneleigh, and the site in 2020 they had booked for Newark.
I must also add that we are have changed the pricing for the first time in 25 years of running the event, but with increased costs everyone needs to chip in to help us keep the show viable and alive, we will still be giving club sites for FREE but all kit car drivers will be charged £5 entry and passengers £15, discounted tickets for camping for kit car and non-kit cars will be on our websites this week and this money will be spent on site costs and evening entertainment etc.
The following statement only applies to Kit Car Manufacturers that trade on club sites whilst not having a presence in the exhibition hall. As of Stoneleigh 2022 onwards we will NOT be allowing any club to book a club site if the manufacturer of that specific kit doesn’t take a space within the main exhibition hall, I know the majority of clubs that cars are still purchasable are fair to this and do have a presence but I also know a few that just do not want to spend money on exhibition space but are willing to trade for free off a club site. If I or any of my staff catch this at any of our events that club will be asked to leave with immediate effect. I have to do this because for the show to keep going on we need every one in the industry to support the only 2 Kit Car Shows left in the UK! A single stand at Stoneleigh is only £340 plus VAT with Newark at a favourable discount if both are booked, we have to pay for carpeting walling, hiring the ground and all the other costs involved trust me the list is endless! And this year every manufacturer that books on will get a paid promotion with photos and links to there websites paid by us on our National Kit Car Shows Facebook page.
I hope all is well with you all and look forward to getting you booked on, and seeing you all at Stoneleigh and Newark this year. Evening entertainment will be a staged gig going into the night, with Complete Kit Car sponsoring the Bands.
Regards, Peter Slater
