Hi, does anybody have a picture of the original roll bar fitted to some SS?
I need to fit one to mine too hang the seat belt harnesses off.
Would be good to see one and where they are fixed to the car before i try to get one made.
Anybody got one for sale?
Thanks

On the MkI and a few early MkII, it is fitted on the mounting flange in front of the doors after coming down the A post and above the doors and down to the flange in front of the bulkhead with a cross bar just across the rear window tunnel and above the windscreen, with parallel bars coming back to a cross bar across the top of the rear window opening. On the later cars the built in frame is similar but no cross bars under tunnel and the two roof bars continue to the rear of window tunnel and then down rear quarters with the front cross bar for steering support bolted to the sides in front of the door opening.. Just a quick 2 minuet knock up of what I remember of the one and only Eagle SS roll bar I have seen. please excuse the lack of scale as I have no idea, of course the vertical bars follow the curve of the body..

Hmm, That roll bar/cage looks pretty substantial. I can see my body has some bars glassed into it from what looks like factory. I dont have anywhere to mount belts though, and the glassed in bars are pretty small diameter.
When my car was on the road, it had big plates behind the bulkhead to mount the belts to. I never felt comfortable with that. Im putting harnesses in now so need something to hang them off so they dont go from the seats 90 degrees to the floor.

I suspect this will be of no use whatsoever BUT, mine are mounted on the rear window shelf (tunnel) with a 2mm steel plate underneath, short of ripping the whole rear window tunnel out I think that is pretty safe, I have horizontal reels with three point harness, bottom mounts are centre tunnel, (original threads) and body/chassis mounting bolt just behind door opening. Having the 1" tubes built in is normal post 1984 and they do not have belt mounting points, something raised with Eagle but never rectified as they said it allowed flexibility for 3,4 or 5 point mountings by the builder..

Yeah i dont think you would be able to rip the plates through the bulk head, not in any survivorable way atleast.
Im tempted to mount them as you have however its an absolute pain getting behind the bulkhead to fix the mounts in.
I think im going to get somebody to bend me a very short rollbar. This will sit in the tight space behind the seats, being held down by the same bolts that hold the body down. The top of the bar/hoop will sit inline with the harness holes of the seats.
