Blue Eagle is a fully registered Eagle on a Ford Basic, the chassis has to be completely restored or renovated, engine has failed and the acceleration as well, but the body is in a fairly good condition. The Red one was the first one I bought and VW related, but never registered as Eagle. In Belgium, however, we can not longer build a new kitcar, so I'm still looking for a solution, either build the Eagle and obtain its approval in the UK on a chassis that I have a VW Beetle oldtimer. Or find a chassis with the approval of Kitcar and build there the eagle on or as the opportunity arises to purchase a chassis or complete Eagle on VW basis with UK approval as eagle. So if someone wants to sell a chassis where Eagle is mentioned on the papers I'm glad to buy, a UK chassis of a beetle you can get free with it. The paper may be out from circulation, as long as there is Eagle stated.

Hi Luc, Just re-read this and the red one is also a FORD car not a VW one as I can clearly see the Ford chassis, rocker cover cut out and air intake for radiator.. Peter

Gotcha! It can be done as the Ford and the VW bodies have the same mounting so just cut out the floor leaving the 3cm flange and make a new front and rear bulkhead and you are onto a VW chassis. You will have a spare chassis for the blue one too.

After hitting boredom at work I decided to take a look at this forum, as I built one of the first series 3 SS's in the 80s. Amazingly the blue one in this thread looks remarkably like the one I built, can I just ask a few questions? When I built the car I made a few mods to the body; 1 the 'dummy' air intakes on top of the back wings I opened up and put a false floor in (with a gap at the back to prevent them acting like an airbrake) 2 front fog light fibreglass pods added and a front number plate moulding that concealed the towing eye position 3 a moulding under the rear bumper to blend in with the (UK) number plate 4 a framework attaching the fog light pods to the chassis (this also gave me somewhere to mount the battery) 5 a spare wheel well in the boot that allowed a full size spare to be carried. Can you please let me know if all these are on the car that you have, if so I may have some more history of the car for you!

Good Evening Everyone,
I'm Tim, I can confirm the car Luc has is Phao's old car, I recognise the reg plate. I bought the car blind from ebay as a 'quick' restoration project from a guy in the Blackpool area who was breaking up a small collection of kit cars he'd acquired. Sadly when the car turned up it wasn't in a state of repair that suggested it would be anything like a quick repair. It also wasn't helped by a small road traffic accident on the 170 mile trip to its new home in Northamptonshire when the bonnet became detached from the car on a motorway on the outskirts of Manchester. Fortunately I was able to procure a brand new bonnet from Tim Naylor who at that time still had the tooling. Over the years I collected a pile of parts with a view of rebuilding and updating, but without a garage or even a shed with a bench (already full of motorbikes,) to attempt a body off restoration I admitted defeat and sold the car to Luc.
