It has been suggested that there might be a business opportunity commercially saving these cars as they become available and restoring them for re-sale and making reproduction parts as well as hardware, alternative chassis, engine conversion kits, upgrades and screens BUT would there be such a demand for this? Would owners and buyers be able or willing to afford it? I doubt it. Seeing how hard it is to get even a silly price on Ebay or Gumtree for even a decent car I think replacement parts would be very slow as Tim Naylor found out with TEAC, plenty of 'vocal' support but no cash and with only a few cars on the road and only possibly twice as many as 'work in progress', some of which might make onto the road, I doubt there would be enough for anything other than as a sideline to an existing company. When I see the MG owners club and the various other 'commercially built' cars clubs and parts suppliers such as classics as Lotus, Jaguar, Bugatti, Austin, Morris, Marcos and even the Bond Bug, I doubt we could match it, which is a shame as so many have been lost in the last couple of years, some just for their more desirable VW running gear with the shell being cut up and burnt or dumped and such a company could have rescued them. Just blowing off steam, again.

Hi Peter I think your comments are very accurate, all would be good until money had to change hands. Sad but true. However we have a house full of rescues ( mainly dogs ) so one more wouldn't hurt.

One of the USA Stirling members has a unit with, I think he said, he had 11 Stirling and Cimbrias, if only we had someone like that, we could have saved at least half a dozen over the last couple of years. Of course, with a supply of 'factory refurbished' cars available the price would rocket too.

NOVA! wash ya mouth out. Honestly, though, the euro-nova forum (http://www.euro-nova.co.uk/vb/forum.php?styleid=1) would be a better bet but they are getting rarer and demanding higher prices with barn finds and garage ghosts fetching sensible prices at last. A NEW Nova (or Eagle SS) can be bought at either www.poly-creation.eu/novaEng.htmor the Eureka remodel by Noreca in Malaysia. (http://norecasportscar.com/model_moon_ace_gt.html) Both would need about 8,000 to 10,000 plus a donor VW beetle.

The SS moulds were sold on Ebay over 6 years ago and disappeared to Wexford according to Tim Naylor.
Poly-creations say they can produce a complete SS (in primer, gel, coat extra) BUT, I doubt it, there are a few parts such as the dash, door cards, A trims etc that might not be available, also the screen is available from Pîlkington but I don't know if they have them in stock, I doubt it.
You can always ask them of course. To buy a NEW SS and complete it to a road going standard and pass the SVA would be in the 8,000 to 10,000 pound bracket depending on wheels, tyres, paint and trim and of course the cost of a donor VW or a custom chassis, the engine, transmission etc.
p.s. body parts such as lid, bonnet and doors can be made. I assume both Ford and VW versions
