Hello, Alan here. I was at last years Stoneleigh show with my white RV on a trailer. This year... Unfortunately I think the engine is running in LOS (Limited operating strategy) mode. Even if it's not running right I'll be there anyway. Sod the fuel. I'm also building a unique hardtop of my own design for it but I'll save that for the show. The RV is Sierra based and has the 2.0i pinto engine with the EFI jobby. If anyone has an idea about obvious checks to get it running right I'm all ears. Altering the timing and the air filter Allen key screw (adjusted to pass emissions) has no real effect just poor performance and economy (just like the Haynes manual says). Looking forward to being a more active member of the Eagle RV community. Alan.

Hey, for delay. You know how it is. Busy getting the RV ready for the show. As for the registering… not too bad… I guess. I made a mistake on the form and it caused a few issues (namely the date 1987 not 2014). A few back and forths with the paperwork and it was done. It just took SOOO LONG. 5th Feb is when I first sent the forms off and got the V5 on the 24th April. Yeah, Last friday! The SVA test itself was far worst (although the testers Keith and Mick where cool) Thinking of doing Sat-Mon to. Alan

Well done Allen. You had a SVA, wow, I may be wrong but I think that might be the FIRST Eagle, RV or SS to have passed one. Look forward to seeing you on Sunday. Peter

Hi Peter,
How do you know if a car has had an SVA? Is it if it has been registered on the log book as a Q plate with Eagle as the make/model?

As you may know the date of registration is a clue up until the IVA/SVA it was just a MoT then a quick look over by your local DoE office and a Q plate was issued unless you had documentation PROVING the age of the donor and you had over 8 points and then it retained the reg number of the donor or were issued an age related plate.
If you have a reg number issued after IVA/SVA came in it must have had to have a SVA.
Allen, is there anything on the V5c that says it passed the SVA or is it a separate doc'?

Hmm, Mine is on a Q plate but is registered on the log book as an Eagle with the year of the original donor vehicle. 1987.

James Hi James, Can't a 1987 Cortina donor, the Cortina was made from 1962 to 1982 (MkV), that must be the year of registering the Eagle and why it has a Q plate, otherwise it would have the donors reg.

Unless it was based on a Sierra?

Doubt it as the front and rear sub-frames wouldn't fit being M-strut and IRS and the donor would be a maximum of 5 years old - could be write of I suppose- but my money is date of build with a Cortina donor. If the engine is the original then you could look up the engine number chart on the sites technical page. www.eagleownersclub.org.uk/Technical/All%20Pinto%202L%20codes.htm

Mine is an Eagle on the V5 and it's date of first registration is 1993 which is what it was given to it as that was the date that chap from the Dvla came to inspect it. The donor was w reg cortna but I had changd the engine so I did't have eight points to keep the registration so it a Q plate.
