Okay guys'n'gals how many Sierra based RV's do we have on the books and..............
...wait for it.............
How many are fitted with the Cologne V6?
Looking for some pics of your engine in situ...in particular engine mounts used and where it's all mounted on the chassis. The dog I'm building has had all the original engine mounts cut off the chassis to accomodate a Perkins diesel motor.
Thanks in advance

I'm sure I have seen one, I know Chaz fitted Sierra rear axle onto his SS including moving the disc brakes inboard. not easy but well worth it. Engine wise I don't think that would be a problem, matter of hacking of the engine and gearbox mounts plonking in the engine/gearbox on a jack/crane and then making new mounts to interface to two.

I'm a new member... I've got one! Definitely sierra based. Built and Registered in Northern Ireland I believe. It may have been a demonstrator A bit of a project as it needs an engine and gearbox. The V8 that was in there is gone I'm planning to fit a Mondeo 2litre TDCI engine (AKA Landrover 'Puma' engine) and transit gearbox!

By the way does anyone know what these door handles are from? This one appears to be broken inside (a bit has fallen off inside the door) and no longer operates the lock mechanism

Answering my own question after hours of trawling through pictures of 80s cars it looks like this might be from the rear of a 4/5dr Volvo 340 However I've not been able to find a pic of the handle off of the door, so I cant see the mechanism - and I'm therefore only 90% sure. Any advice or intelligence available? If I'm right then my next challenge would be to find one!

It may be possible to download a workshop manual for that car and you MIGHT see a drawing or at least see it removed. Love Volvo bits, I have a 245 handbrake. Failing that, scrapyards. I Googled Volvo 340 rear door handle and found a few images including rear views

Aha! This is now confimed as being a Volvo 340 handle due to pics I just found on the following site www.volvo300mania.com/uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4945 That features this pic Edit AttachmentsMatches mine exactly It also looks like non opening from the outside is a common fault. Indeed that is the reason for that article on volvo300mania forums in the first place. The red ring shows exactly the same failure as mine - a long bit snapped off. I shall have to work on making a new bit from steel. However I imagine that there aren't many RVs with wind up windows out there? Actually I wonder if mine is a one off.....

When I originally built it way back in 1999 I fitted a 2 litre Pinto with a Type 9 gearbox, but in 07 I threw away the Pinto and fitted a 2.9 Cologne with an A4LD autobox. If you still need photos let me know. Cheers! Doug.

I'm still interested in pics...especially how far back your engine is mounted and your engine + gearbox mounts....the latter is pretty simple but interested in other ideas. My RV was Pilgrim built and fitted with a Montego diesel engine originaly which involved a lot of chassis mods and bespoke crossmember. My late brother ditched that oily lump and the Sherpa gearbox in favour of a pinto initially but I have pulled this engine as the Rv will do some boat towing so a bit more grunt called for. I have a Daimler 2.5 hemi V8 in the garage alongside a 2.8 cologne....figure the hemi would be a waste to its all go for the Ford V6 but Im going to have to fabricate both engine mounts and sort out the steering which will have to include PAS. Any pics =would be great...email to chrisreeceevans@tiscali.co.uk
