Finally, I have made some progress, think I've sorted the wiring out, or at least where it should go, just need to permanently wire it in, rather than use jump leads to get the power into the engine bay via the open window!
The battery is now behind the passenger seat!
Any way, I finally got it started, an earth lead on the loom that was hiding under the bulkhead hadn't been connected, when it was it went fir a bit! Then the battery went flat, but what inspiration it has given me to get it moving again.
Just need to centralise the engine, then find a way to fit a radiator.
Maybe more work on Friday, a day off

Can get it started, but won't keep running. Think it's a vacuum problem, need to go and see Davetrials again I think.
V frustrating.
At least I have a rad fitted now. 2.8 capri came up trumps!

Kind of good progress on the RV today.
Engine now runs although very noisy with no exhausts !
Now need to sort engine mounts out and move to engine over to the off side so that I can fit an exhaust system of any kind
Hope to visit Dave Trials shortly for measurements used on his to make it fit!
Thought the 2.3 V6 mounts from a cortina would fit!
Oh well another problem to sort out!

Have been a bit fed up with the RV, but gave ordered another down pipe to try and fit onto the manifold. Measured my engine position against Dave trials old one and not a Loy of difference. Anyway, managed to source another pipe, so fingers crossed....otherwise a Pinto might be going back in!
Fingers crossed for weekend after next for some success.
Will try and take some pics for you all!

Well, I have given up on the 2.9, just too much trouble, and stopping me using the RV. So back to square one, pinto back in, and maybe upgrade the engine with a new camshaft, and twin carbs.
But I want to drive it this year... After all it is insured lol.
Engine on eBay, so mind made up.
Roll on Stoneleigh.

Considering the SS and Ford Eagle chassis are the same I find it strange you can't stuff a V6 in as Jason got a 3.5 V8 in one. But a Pinto can be made into a Mustang and really go.

I know you can fit it, cos I've seen one, even had the 2.3 engine mounts, if I had enough space time I probably could have fitted, but not having enough room, and a flat drive, I've decided to call it a day. I would rather spend my time driving it. I'm not a mechanic, and it's a hobby. I've given it a go, and happy I tried, but having the RV on the road is more important to me.
It just got too frustrating!

I did tell you to just by mine Ed. but she frustrated me too, so a pinto is probably a better option. Put a 38 DGAS carb on, it works well. have a spare one if you interested. Dave

Then fit soft top. Anyone know the rices of fitting the roof properly, has a hard top at the moment!
Thanks.

Plumbing all complete, exhaust re fitted, with shorted pipe, so exhaust comes out just on front of the n/s wheel.
Grill back on, so lights need connecting, then tidy up the inside and fit MG half leather/Alcantara seats.
Then should be ready for the MOT.
Then when its warm enough, fit the soft top and finish trimming the interior. Not much to do before then end of April then!

Well finally replaced another radiator, previous 2 leaked! Now full of antifreeze, and it appears to b staying in there thus Unimed.
Tomorrow morning, if it's dry, the wiring will be fullyl functioning again. Looking to have it ready for the MOT next weekend, and then a bit of internal finishing ahead of Stoneleigh.
Maybe even get the soft top fitted for the show, now it am quite excited about that bit!

Just trying to fit some different seats. What a pain they are, seat belt in the way, not much head room for a 6'2" guy!
As always a bit of perseverance and sure I'll get there!
Current seats I am trying, are MGTF ones, to try and get more headroom, weekend job!

Are you fitting them to the top of the existing fibreglass seat 'box'? The MGTF seats are really nice - I had a set for a previous old kit car and they looked great. Comfy too. Low & flat mounting base too, I recall? So if you can source another matching pair, they should fit nicely in the back I've managed to get hold of a full set of Vitarra seats for my own RV, so looking forward to having them fitted. But the 'seat boxes' are going to have to be cut out and my floor flattened first...

Hi, drivers side I gave removed the box, passenger side still has it. Problem is the seat belt. Currently the drivers side I has the reel at head height, but I keep hitting my head on it. As you say a very low seat, so may have to raise slightly, to clear belt reel when out back on the bottom of the roll bar. Will have a look this weekend.

Usual practice is, I think, to have the seat belt reel mounted at the bottom of the roll-over bar, with the belt coming up to that top mount where there's the 'holder' for the belt - the 'flat ring' that allows the belt to slip through and provides the correct shoulder height for the belt.
I can see a top-mounted reel being a problem.
The reel doesn't have to be at the side of the roll bar at the bottom either, it could be mounted in front or behind the roll bar where it won't get in the way of the seat (can't remember how mine is at the moment...).

Made a new box section, so the belt sits in front of the roll bar, and firs snuggly between the seat and side of the car, will post a picture shortly, just need to fix the MG seats to the floor now.

Finally finally got the seats fitted, and my head doesn't hit the roll bar!
Both Seats move backwards and forwards like they are meant to and don't catch on anything.
Just final checks and got to try and get it running a bit better, then call the MOT centre.
Ready just in time for the Spartan to come back.
Anyone else git there Eagle SS/ RV ready for Kenilworth ?
