Greetings all looking for a little advise, I have just got my hands on an Eagle 2+2 SS for £150 not run for 15 years so going through a full rebuild. Now my question is ? is the car an SS or not? it does not have gull wing doors it has normally opening doors, I am also looking for another bonnet as the one fitted is as ugly as hell. any advise on this subject would be of great help thanks Mike

Yep it'll be an SS. The "normal" SS had the gullwing doors. But the 2+2 had the normal doors. When you get the chance please put some photos up. How does the car show on the registration document ? And does it already have a Q plate ?

A very rare car, I hope you see this through and get it back on the road. As for another bonnet, probably rarer that rocking horse s**t. Be nice to see some pics.

There are currently 6 2+2s on the EOC register. (Just realised I hadn't put the blue one from last years calendar on the register ,) It would nice if yours was a new one but I suspect it is already on the list. 2+1 2+2 Ford 2L Pinto Black ? Kidderminster,/ Ebay Peter C No full reg 2+2 2+2 Ford ford 2L Red Q235 WAK Tamworth, Staffs No DVLA trace 2+3 2+2 Ford kit only Red #0295 roadster1 No full reg 2+4 2+2 Ford Targa Black Q710 GFR Rossendale ronsnanfox 1985/1990 UNLICENCED 2+5 2+2 Ford 2l Pinto Red? Q656 CPE Perth, Kinross hormerramone 86/2014/SORN 2+6 2+2 Ford ? Blue ? ? ? ? Very few made and as you can see only a handful have turned up so far. Whilst the car is basically the same as a MkII SS and uses the same chassis and Cortina running gear the body is quite unique to this model and it is NOT a hacked up SS as some less informed people have commented. There should be either side window frames for sliding windows or wind down like the blue one. There are two models, T top and cabrio. yours might even be one of these. The bonnet is always a bone of contention and there are three designs for the SS/2+2 ranging from multi bump to single scoop, whatever you do, do NOT chop the original about, take a mould so you have the basic shape, using lots of none sticky stuff like cling film in the mould make a foam cast of it using builders spray foam and then shape that to what you like, taking into account the stuff that has to fit under it of course, and then using that buck make a new mould and then a new bonnet, sounds like a lot of work but it is the only way you can avoid ending up with a knackered bonnet and nothing to show for it and you will still have the original in case it all goes pear shaped.

Greetings Fellow Eagle owners, thanks for your helpful advise, Not a problem seeing the build through. I am a lecturer in Motor Vehicle engineering at a large college in Birmingham so been in the trade for well over 38 years now (OLD GIT) will post some pictures of the car at the weekend , it is currently just a shell with everything gutted. Have fully rebuilt the rear axle the engine block has been bored and enameled the head has been polished and ported with new valve seats cut. I am looking at remoulding the bonnet have been looking at other Eagle cars on the web but have not found one like mine as yet, The Registration is a Q plate still waiting for the log book to come back, the engine is a 1.6 Pinto engine the whole car needs lots of TLC. Thanks for all of your advise. Mike

So how is it going, or has 'life' got in the way?
