I am a new member. I have had a couple off SS's in the past and am looking for a new SS project Does anyone know if there is a difference between the doors on the Phase 1,2 and 3 models. Also is it possible to get an SS though an SVA test? Has it ever been done? If not, what are the reasons car not able to pass?

The are differences in MkI and MKII & III doors and it is the windows, the MkI is fixed on the front edge and the mkII & III on the front lower edge and top corner, the opening has an extra bit for the top mounting and the front bottom corner on the MKI is longer, Catches at rear lower corner are the same. As far as doors go, they all fit in the hole. As you may already know, thing to watch is the hinge plate in the door roof, rust will force the inner and outer panels apart requiring a lot of work to remove with the help of some acetone to soften the old resin and bond new plates in.
As far as the ITV goes. no one has yet got a SS or Nova through, in fact I don't think anyone has tried. Problems would be the drivers door mirror must be hand adjustable from the seat, so leave the side windows out when testing. the chin spoiler would fail, needs a rubber edge bonding on as it's too sharp. tail pipes are always a problem on older builds as they don't have a rolled edge but trims cure that, but that's part of all the usual VOSPA crap they come up with like plastic nut covers on exposed nuts and bolt heads. If it's a VW based SS then it should already be registered on the VW VIN and registration of the donor. if it's an un-registered Ford based car you will certainly need the test.
There has been a few for sale in the past months and most are parts only unfortunately. New screens are available now, but costly.
Hope you get one and on the road soon, I would humbly suggest reading 'so you want to build a kit car' on the forum, could save you a lot of tears.
