Though I'd better face it, so here goes! The dash / wiring and demisting system is first to get attention. The dash was made of plywood and had completely rotted away. This is due to a two inch gap in the windscreen seal at the bottom which only became visible once I'd pulled the old screen vent tube off the top of the dashboard. Water must have been pissing in for ages. All the wiring is corroded and the metal box section that goes across bottom of the dash is very rusty. The wiring is a multi-coloured birds nest of crap, most of which doesn't seem to go anywhere. The pictures show exactly how the wiring was, hanging down, not clipped up anywhere and live cables dangling down with bare ends. Amazingly, EVERYTHING WORKS! Heres a few pictures to give you all a chuckle. One bonus is that my old hardtop is only around half an inch from fitting. I'll remove the sreen frame and re-fit it at a slightly different angle. I'll post up more as I progress, but it may take a while. John

Well Biggles, I think you had better get Algy and Ginger on the team again, crank up the Camel and let rip. That's a fair job you have there.

Yes, I have to say though, I was sort of expecting it. Once you start pulling old kit cars apart, there's usually lots of horrors to be found. I guess you just have to remember that this old thing is the best part of 30 years old and lots of different people have had their fingers in there bodging it up. I've got a plan for it and it should turn out ok. The one thing I'm not going to do is keep a record of the expense. I'd be forever thinking. . . . "I could have bought a good Jeep Wrangler with that money". John

Good man John, get stuck in. Problem is it will eat up all your spare time (and money). My hard top was like that with the screen surround in its natural position so I just pulled it back a bit. Keep postig bud.
