Not a member yet, but have recently bought a tidy RV, but with the usual problem of windows blowing out in wind/rain etc Have two sets one for hard top and one for soft, neither will stay closed. Soft set velcro only and hard velcro and press studs Really want some simple sliding full doors preferably black or suggestions as to how to add hard tops to my half doors also... big wheels that catch on wings when turning hard or braking into corner...any suggestions... not smaller wheels please also... for overload... hard top fixings on windscreen are naff, screws that vibrate loose....any suggestions apart from this it is a really good build and clean as a whistle... roll on spring thanks

Welcome. There have been some doors for sale, try the buy & sell section. I think ColinD had some on ebay, don't know if they sold or not.

Welcome aboard Neil. Going the half door route meyself as I prefer the look. I am going to add a drop in top section but I note your problems and will make it secure. Good luck with your RV, try to make it to Stoneleigh (I know it is a long way for you but it is worth it) and we can all compare RV's. Where in Newcastle are you? I come from up there and still have family in the area.

I'm in Whickham
I picked the RV up from Upminster so the winter drive north was interesting to say the least
Let me know your door solution as and when
Keep in touch and if you drive up i will meet you with thermos and foil blanket
Cheers
Just a thought... I replaced void bushes and engine mountings as there was a bit of movement, but i still get a bit when decelerating or pulling away with low revs any ideas?
All shockers and springs are excellent and although a bit sloppy, the box is good for a 20+ year old pinto 2ltr
If you have any ideas I wold be grateful
Thanks again

I guess it could be the diff, the propshaft universal joints or the gearbox itself. Try getting underneath and turning the propshaft by hand to see where there is play. Oh, and make sure the gearbox and diff have oil in, they tend to get neglected!
Bring it to Stoneleigh in May and let 'the boys' have a look at it for a more accurate diagnosis.
My sister lives in Burnopfield, about 4 or 5 miles from you?

Just lost driver side top half door on the motorway today and nearly the hard top (leading edge never been properly secure screws keep working their way out)
Anybody got any suggestions as to fitting perspex top half or got any doors they want to flog
Do all RV hard tops have stupid screw fixing to leading edge or is there an alternative that anyone knows of
Ruins what is otherwise a lovely car
Thanks

Mine was bolted to the screen frame. Much more secure.

Thanks Dave
There are wooden blocks on the underside of the leading that took the scews, (screwed upwards through brackets on the screen top, this was obviously no good as the screws vibrated loose. I will probably drill through the roof and use bolts with either a plate or washer on roof and down through brackets...
Sensible?

My hardtop is fixed by 9(I think) set screws and nuts through hardtop and screen frame. Bit overkill, time consuming to undo and ugly but the hardtop wont come adrift! Another one of those things you think " there must be a better way to do this" but lots of higher priorities on the list so far.

My hardtop front leading edge is secured by four small rubber pull type bonnet catches as fitted to small plant equipment engine covers. They keep the front of my roof down at 100mph in my v8 rv.........just !! ;D

100mph!!!!! My roof is ctrying to escape at 60...well it could be 70 as I am unsure about speedo you havent received Membership cheque I have been working away, will sort it .. Any idea where I can by door locks/handles passenger side seized in open position No its not a crock of.... but doors are a major issue looking for a clean reliable turbo diesel as well, the pinto is lovely but 25mpg is a pain Soft top going on now as the weather seems to have broken , but the rubber strap idea sounds good...the hailstones keep getting in my eyes Cheers
