Anybody know what gas struts were used on the eagle SS ? How effective they were ?
Im debating weather to weigh my door and order a pair based on the door weight.

I think you should be looking at early Ford tailgate struts with a ball joint, to find out what strength you need place a bathroom scale on the floor behind the seats and a broom handle or similar on it up to the mounting point on the door so the door is HALF open, (max weight). Every build has a different characteristic and weight so best do your own thing. There are several companies who sell struts on eBay who can supply anything you need with regards to strength and fittings. OR, you could snaf a pair from the scrapyard from a Ford Serra or Escort estate for instance and try it, (mine are from a Vauxhall) you need to have the fully fitted door to stay open but only just, not too much force or you will have a hard pull to close it and the bottom of the door will be pushed out when closed, (well, more than usual)
