As there seems to be a rekindled interest in SS screens I have spent the last week making inquiries (thank god for VOIP phones) and the end result is as posted in Tim's area, unless someone has 5k st spare, a few months making sure they get made and is willing to make all that effort and investment for no profit without any sure way of knowing if thay would all sell, then the only way to get one is to buy a SS for it's glass to finish another, thereby diminishing the number of SSs.p.s. By the way, who was it had a MKIII side window spare?

E-mail from the man himself at Pilkington
Peter,
Not sure if I can help you.
The only glass we can offer from the specialist factory at Queenborough is the part I call the Nova.
It was made at the Kings Norton factory at Birmingham with the tooling transferred to Queenborough at a later date.
It has a KN number of X09668A and a Queenborough number of A0573
The size of this glass is 1315 wide and 948 at the centre height.
I recall talking to someone who wanted a windscreen that was considerably smaller in height.
If you need the smaller one we do not have tooling for it, so cannot supply.
We have made a shorter version of the A0573 by using a “piggy back” technique, so it may be possible to produce what you need, but I cannot be sure unless we have a sample to view
Please mail me if you need any other information
Thanks,
MY SS screens maximum apature is 903h x 1302w as opposed to Nova 948h x 1315w So there you have it

If the curvature of the two screens were to prove to be similar and the Nova screen was laminated an experienced glass man could cut one screen out of the other....too much to hope for Good that you got a helpful response though.

Just out of curiosity how when people would be interested in buying a new windscreen with the proper kite/e marks?
Regards Colin.

I have an original screen with the tripleX sundym stamp, even that doesnt have an e mark. If your not going through IVA a plain screen should be fine?

A new screen should have the E42 mark for European std. but I never looked for it when I did tests and I don't see my Spanish testers looking at such stuff.
