The guy who bought the red SS on Ebay without any glass (and horrible ladybird lining) has need of a windscreen (yet another) and side windows MkII, III (and I need one too) any updates as to where, who and even IF possible?

Pete,
My plans may well mean that I don't need my side windows. I have just spoken to the Regt 2IC in NI and the car should be on its way over to me this month. I'll check when it gets here.
Hope all is well with you and yours in sunny Spain.
Jon

On another aside, Tim still has my whole windscreen that I leant him at Stoneleigh so that he could use it as a "plug" for getting new ones made. I don't suppose you have any info on where it might be?

Hi Jon, lone time no see. great to hear from you again and your SS is still on the burner, (kinda). As far as I know Tim still has the stuff in an industrial unit, He has tried to as sell off the SS part and keep the RV side but I have yet to ask him, I'll drop him an email and see what the current situation is, or you could as well.

Yes it will be good to finally get it back in the same country as me! I have made a few new friends here, including one with a very large garage, heated, de-humidified, 4 post lift, large compressor, etc, etc, etc! Very nice friend to know and he has lots of friends who race or prepare racers or do other things mechanically to cars, so hopefully will get some real progress soon.

I spoke briefly to a bloke who was ready to part with the RV project including moulds, demonstrator, chassis jig et al. I thought about it but the asking price was way too high given that the RV doesn't seem to comand any sort of reasonable price and therefore selling new kits wouldn't work financially. Ploughed the money into creating moulds for a new generation Pelland instead. This chap was, I believe, Tim's ex-partner.....I still have his contact deets somewhere if anybody is interested. However, I reckon the RV is dead and merely awaits burial.

He is as far as I know still Tim's partner but has control of the RV project and wants to shift it but a one can get a real jeep for simular money like a CJ6, why bother? the SS has gone to an Irish guy in Wexford so we will have to keep an eye on that but If history is anything to go by ihat is a dead one as I cannot see anyone paying good money for a 30+ year old design, no matter how sexy.

so the SS moulds are in somebody elses hands now? Any body know how much he paid? Thats a shame, but i suppose they were only good to replace/repair eagles that were already on the road and had paperwork. The only kit that seems to sell nowadays is the seven style. Its not like the nova/eagle are ugly cars either! I think the lack of windscreens, ridiculous manufacture costs and the current financial climate has killed off any chance of bringing the SS back.

I still think there is a place for an exotic car and providing it isn't as ridiculously priced as the Ultima which is really a build it yourself race car NOT a kit car as such and could be put on the road for say £7,000 or below the price of a decent second hand car and Vosa compliable, then it is possible. What would be difficult is deciding on a donor that is currently available and will continue to be affordable so for at least ten years, has the correct mechanical configuration to be adaptable to a mid engine use and not too expensive. Quite a tall order.
