As a neighbour of this guy can you all really keep everything crossed that he is ok please. Both him & his wife are lovely, from what I know. They have two tiny little girls, both under 5 I think. I can't even begin to imagine what his wife must be going through.

I'm sure that petrol heads around the country have their thoughts with the Hamster today and are praying for a full recovery.

I actually probably will pop a best wishes note through their door, so if anyone wants to add to the above comments I will print this off & put it in with the card.
(Cept Simon, who is probably still in a sulk cos his car is not allowed on top gear ;D)

I'm sure everyone in the club wishes him a full recovery and would want to express their support for his family. Chaz.

Interesting to see ITVs take on it. They have gone back 20 years or so to make the BBC look irresponsible.
How sad & sick is that when they are discussing a guy who is still alive? Or is that just me?

No, it's not just you. We all know the risk when we get behind the wheel. The faster the car the bigger the risk. But you can't stay in a pushcair your whole life. At least he's out of intensive care now.

Better to die living than live dying is the attitude I think. As me & Jeff proved in his RV . Thank you for that link Chris. That is wicked!

hi does anyone know how hes doing as its all gone out of the papers shane LAST NEWS REPORT By TONY COLLIVER September 28, 2006 RICHARD HAMMOND was flown by air ambulance from Leeds General Infirmary to a Bupa hospital in Bristol, just before 1pm.
He arrived with his wife Mindy and appeared to be in good spirits as he waved to reception staff.
The hospital boasts the only private intensive care ward in south-west England and also has a full range of facilities to help people recover from serious injuries.
The star's consultant neurosurgeon Stuart Ross predicted he could be “back to his old self” within six months.
He said: “He has had what I have already termed a significant brain injury.
“He has to rest and allow his brain to recover and that takes time. I’m sure that once that period is over he will be back to his old self."
The 36-year-old presenter was taken into hospital just over a week ago after the jet-powered Vampire dragster he was driving was involved in a high-speed crash at Elvington airfield, near York. By all accounts he is still at home resting and getting better. Fingers crossed he will be gracing our TV screens again in the near future
