i built and owned a few novas before deciding to restore an ss,, the best bit is you can stick any lump you want in there if its the ford based version,, i rebuilt mine with a v8 lump and nearly finished now,do you have a chassis to start with or is it just a body shell, do you have the glass, etc,, you will get plenty of help here through the message board as you progress,, be sure to register on the eaglekitcars.co.uk site ,, and start your own build update,,there you can also check out other peoples builds as they progress with pics and commentary,, and of course there is club membership available,, jason

if it is vw then it will not have a floor in the body made of grp but will be open also if it is vw the bonnet space will have a floor,, if there is a fibreglass floor in the seating area then it is ford also the ford based one will have a floor in the boot at the back,,, is yours a white one by any chance with a bonnet in red primer?

looks like you will have to change / modify the bonnet (or fit a Subaru or Alfa engine), ;D Peter

i have made a few chassis up and have no problem welding or aquiring metal but a beetle chassis would be a whole lot easier to use

The basic body shell is the same and the Ford chassis was made to be the same footprint as the VW chassis so the theory is if you chop out the floor pan / tunnel and trim to fit front and rear, add right angle 10mm thick glass fiber to join front and fear bulkheads to chassis and bolt on, it should be possible to do but also the engine bay will need boxing in to provide a boot and strengthen the front and the rear boot chopped out to allow the engine/ fuel tank, etc. to fit. You would also need to fill in the hole in the front bulkhead where the Ford's centre tunnel was too. It’s a lot of work and a lot of glass fiber too. If I was going to do that much work I think I would either get VW kit like mine and spend the time and money on the engine and trim or if you are really hell bent on being different then go the whole hog and go transverse mid-engine using the complete VW Golf engine / Sub frame or simular, behind a removable rear bulkhead on a custom build chassis with independent front wishbone suspensions as described in my earlier ramblings on the board. I have seen it done on a SS using a chopped VW floor pan and an Alfa Delta unit, with a flip back rear end but if you made the rear bulkhead removable for service access you could get away with that BIG job. What ever you decide we will all be here to help where we can. Peter
