Hi guys, Just putting the feelers out to see if anybody/nobody is up for doing the same as last year with the food? It made a lot of sense last year but it could be more successful if we all joined in. Got a few ideas to expand the options for choice so any suggestions/ideas/etc or say your in or out, please just give me a shout!

Hi pedro, We did the food as a group a just said chuck a tenner in and youll get breakfast and dinner. A breakfast at the last show was a tenner on its own! We had bacon, sausage, eggs, tomatos for the breakfast and for dinner we had 2 different types of burgers, sausage, steak, pork chops, etc. And obviously we had the kettle on the go most of the day. was thinking of doing the same again with a few more options. For someone whos there for both the days £20 to be fed all show sounds pretty good i think. I think we can still do it for £10 a head per day.

I'm in Grom, and Lyndon probably. If Graham is in you had better get a few plain chops or whatever, its an option for others too.

Graham is in.
But wont be cooking, but will bring EXTRA tables this time, + 2 burner cooker and gas ( cooker was not needed last time, but available if need be )
A rough time for meals would be adviseable to be stated on here.
If people are only coming for the day, breakfast for them may not be possible, so a price change for them should be considered.
NOTE, ONE burger from the stalls could cost £ 3, EACH, so £ 10 is a good deal.
Another note to eaters that have not had the pleasure on Gromits and Terry's culinary delights, last year there was plenty of variety, and it's camping style food, not a resturant, but my partner and I enjoyed the food, and were thankful of the efforts made by both and volunteer cooks, and occationally, smaller seconds could be available. ( but no apple pie and ice cream )

I dont wanna make it so regimented, perhaps it could be per meal? suggestions are always welcome ( on the food terry!!!) Ideally my hope was to cover the cost of the food and have a small surplus for the club ( not a huge amount but it could add up to better food equipment or perhaps im able to get drinks for the club ) Again suggestions welcome. I dont envisage that any surplus money would be huge ( perhaps £20/£25 ) but it would certainly cover the cost of a full gas bottle for future shows if our numbers swell. I am hopefully purchasing a gas fridge next week to be able to keep more bbq food for longer at show. Also as a secondary thought, perhaps the food at shows for members might be an incentive to increase membership numbers.

I think charging per meal, burger sausage bap, breakfast, or whatever is the way to go. You would be lucky to find a burger for £3 at a show Graham, more like £6. No kidding.

Graham's reply..
Members and None members please note ---- Gromit ( Jon ) and Terryrob ( Terry ) have for the past up to 10 years, have provided free food to members ( and even to none members ) and to my knowledge were never reimbursed, except last year when I suggested they charge a nominal fee. I have; since becoming chairman of the club sent out emails to potential members that the committee members had kept the club afloat financially re food etc, and we can't expect committee members to foot the bills indefinitely.
Yes, we have to cover the food costs, and because we look upon ourselves as "a family"; none members were being fed too -- it's just the kind way we are.
We don't have 340 members that an owners club oposite us at Stoneleigh have and charging £ 12 membership which equals £ 4080 per year income. At present, potential members of the eagle owners club is 15 to 20 at £ 10 membership which equals £ 200 max before donations, ( and thank you to those members who have donated financially to the club in small and large amounts ) and the previous 2 years we had a problem with the membership secretary ignoring requests for membership hence no money coming in, and we may have had to close down as a result. There are more none members that show an interest in Eagles and most have an eagle, than members numbers, so the interest IS there.
i suggested rough times for meals as we can't be running a resturant - open all hours - and members and none members that pay to come in can't come in till 9:30 am, ( but members camping will be up at 8 am, who will be fed early in the morning ).
Note, any club found selling none Eagle club products, ( Eagle club products would be T shirts / head gear with eagle logo on etc ) will be asked to leave immediately, but I don't think we would be asked to leave for "donations to the club" towards food, as donations are all we can ask for - I think.
Yes, I have to look after the interests of the club.
The organisers KNOW we feed our members and allowed this at the last 2 shows.
But up to Gromit ( Jon ) and Terryrob ( Terry ) to enable visitors, members and none members to know when to come back to the stand for grub.
O.K. it may be left open, it just maybe see how it goes on the day, or have some idea as to "opening times" as we can't be running a resturant - open all hours - to be fair to the people that are cooking the food,
It worked well last year with no set times, but see what you 2 come up with based on above - if anything.

I get where your coming from Graham but perhaps if we said that all members were asked if we should combine efforts in regards food to prevent 12 bbq's been lit allover at staggered times. The members agreed and it was decided that a set amount was agreed upon per meal as a contribution towards the cost of the food. The fact that only enough food was brought for the club and not for non members to buy, i cant see how they would be able to do anything about it .To be honest i dont think they would be bothered, as ive never seen an event official come to a club pitch to inspect in all the time ive been going. Not even in the good old days when there fires, music, drink, and food at 2am! As regards the breakfast time we dont do breakfast at 8am!!!!!! Never have done, it takes terry 20 mins to get his first leg back in his jeans the morning after so breakfast usually happens as people arrive at the show. In my mind the ideal set up would be what the nova group used to have, a gazebo with all the food and drink in and they cooked for the group as a whole. They all chipped in and everybody was fed and watered the entire show.

Well, plenty of room in the club tent for the food / tables -- that's what it's for, and to keep out of any rain, and only needs suff to be pushed to one side for an Hour at the most for the A.G.M. job done ! I have a 3m x 3m gazebo too, ( no sides ) so Ill bring that too & if we don't need to use it - no problem--
am hireing an 8 foot trailer ( some tent poles are 7 foot long -and my old trailer is only 5 foot long )
and as I said in my last post ... O.K. it may be left open, it just maybe see how it goes on the day, or have some idea as to "opening times" as we can't be running a resturant - open all hours - to be fair to the people that are cooking the food. Don't worry- it will work out on the day, as it has in the past.
If we don't get any more members renewing their membership by 30th May ( 2 and a half weeks away ) we will only have 10 paid up members, and some of those wont be comming to the 1st show. I'll send another list out to superseed the one i sent out on 1/5/2023 to you so you know how many members may -- may wish to purchase / donate towards food -- if they are hungry and go to the show.
Not that it's a problem, but I may be hiring a car transporter too, if my legs and back can work on the SS, and in total will cost £ 345.00 for 2 trailers. ( not complaining ) and maybe again for Newark .......... and I'll be at an American Classic show with my Lincoln Mk IV towards end of July ( no trailers needed that time, thank goodness.)
Again I ask all those that are going to the show at Malvern with an Eagle ( PAID UP MEMBERS AND NONE MEMBERS) , to let me know a.s.a.p. this week please.
