Good morning all, I did not get any feed back from my last thread about the front wheels and the engine, SO, does anyone have any pictures of the engine bay of a front engine SS or I will travel to any part of the UK to take a look at the engine bay in person because as well as the front wheel location I would also suspect looking at the transmission tunnel that the engine with gearbox could be a bit of a tight fit. I so want an easy way out of this than having the familiar high road stance of most of the car pictures I have seen and boy I have seen a few. Any help from the respectfully named old guard. Steve

I wish you luck with your quest. Unfortunately, this forum is a bit "Hit and miss", should we say. Peter does all he can to keep the interest up, but a lot of folk only seem to be here for a brief period and then disappear. The fact that you're willing to travel, to find out what you need, is great. Hopefully someone will come forward to help you out.
John

Thanks John, I do try, in fact I have been called, "very trying".
Steve, It depends on many factors such as type of engine, a V8 CAN be stuffed in there and type of gearbox too. there is also an early VW footprint and later ladder chassis. There are some pictures of RVs on the web sight, something else I am wondering if it's worth the effort and expense of maintaining.

Hi Peter I have just posted the issues on my Eagle Page. I would love to see some pictures or see one in the flesh. I have run a tape over all the bits and I full accept what you have said but would love to see how. Thanks again. Steve

Hi John Do you mean a link to this page or my Eagle Facebook page. Not the best with these computer things better with engineering, so if you mean this site how do you do it?. Did you see my web cast from yesterday. Peter's piece about the Cortina downer car makes total sense now and would account for that higher stance look the cars have and my need to reverse engineer the project. Keep safe. Regards Steve

Unforunately no pics of mine before pulling out the pinto lump, but check out Neils ford SS posts, some engine bay pics there, and must be more somewhere on the site.Engine space isn't too bad, enough room(just)to fit v6/v8 but yes, gearbox is a bit tight in the tunnel, standard ford reverse light switch is awkward on type9 gear box, requires a hole in the tunnel by the drivers seat,(I managed to find a shorter one but no idea what from)and i'm sure the later MT75 box is wider,so may not fit. The high stance isn't so much down to the cortina suspension ,that can be lowered,(sort of),but having enough ground clearance for the exhaust system,as no easy way to route it without having to go under the chassis at some point. The alternative is, if you can't make it lower, then make it 'look' lower, side skirts, lower front, rear spoilers, etc.

I know the RV that passed the IVA had to have a couple of mods done, I remember it was space between bumper and wings but on SS, who knows?
