Its been a quite a while since I was on this site posting, but do pop in from time to time taking an envious looksy at all the projects. I had a deal with a garage to get my Eagle SS though to MOT stage, which has all gone pear shaped. Its been going on for a few years and I finally tracked my car down (as it disappeared from the garage, had been taken to the holding area several miles away, the garage moved twice without telling me) and recovered it back to my house. There were times where I though I would never see it again!
The only progress is the windscreen, looks professionally fitted, a few extra wires have turned up, but that's about it. It looks like its been kept out side for a few years despite being told is was safe in inside storage. Any other progress I made on it has been undone by the weather, all the replacement roof hinges are rusted solid, cracked the top fibre glass roof trying to open the doors.
So my bad news is I'm back to square one, with a load of wasted time and a large hole in the wallet. (another battle)
Good news I have my car back, my son is a number of years older whom has taken an interest in the car also, so its going to be a good project for him and me we are not giving up. I'm going to do some of the work myself and get the mobile mechanics in to do some of the other work required.
This weekend will be spent, seeing if I can unjam the bonnet catch, Getting another battery (the one it had has gone missing) and seeing if the car still turns over. I know it will not stop if I manage to start it as a load of rusty brake pads are in the car foot well under one inch of watery soil......brill
Hope this read make some of your projects feel a little easer.
Enjoy your cars

I do hope that you get somewhere, both with the car and the financial side. It gets annoying when people lose out because they believe that someone will do the work. It's appearing on a lot of the forums. Hopefully it will get better now the car is back with you. Good luck.

What a bummer, I so know what you went through, I had my SS in a "secure and cared for" storage and with a cover on, after two years at 50€ a month the cover had long gone, rain into the carbs and engine, totally buggered that all up and rats eat the wiring and crap all over the interior, so yeah, been there done that. At least you have the car back and with the old saying that there is only two ways to do a job, do it your self or pay someone to do it for you, I hope you can get it up and running without the expense of an engine rebuild.

Had a look at the engine over the weekend, thought I would see if it would turn over. Removed spark plug number one put some oil in there all good. Removed spark plug number two and my worst fears. Full of water. Spark plug all rusty as was the water. Who knows how long that's been like that. I guess it's as Peter predicted a engine rebuild. As it seems solid I could not move it manually. After this blow my resolve began to waver. But not for long got a plan again.
Get the brakes working again did before I can do it again. Get some help in with the doors and hinges plus locks. I can then think about the engine / rewire, most likely get a mobile mechanic on the job or tow to local garage to sort. If the engine is a none starter write off, might be worth me doing some home work on an electric motor. I read somewhere on the web that used electric fort trunks can supply the inners required, charger, battery's, motor etc. But this may be a pipe dream. Anyone dabbled into the electric era yet?

Looked into EV and apart from True Cousins SS (fasted EV IN THE WORLD!) and a couple of efforts that seem to have diapered over in stateside not a good idea, it is the cost of the batteries that is the most off putting.
