Hi as per title im hoping to become a rv owner soon but i have a question about different body types, my dad built a rv in the 90s and the rear interior was flat for the seats to be fitted and the one im looking at buying has some sort of box in the back do you know if this would be built by the owner or did eagle fit a box in the early jeeps? If its and eagle built thing does anyone have any pics of the rear seats fitted on the box or any info would be great thanks in advance

Hi Dave, glad to see your looking for an Eagle. The body types you are asking about are earlier and later types. The ones with the box in the back were the first bodies originally based on the VW beatle chassis and the box was where the engine was. My RV is this body style. At some point the moulds were altered to make the back flat and more open and usable. Whatever you buy they can be made into good usable cars, mine at one time in the late 80's was my only means of transport. However most now will require a fair bit of work and inginuity, sourcing parts is not easy as they are getting rarer, it may end up costing more than buying a cheap modern clone hatchback but thats what they are about, no easy ride.

Cheers terry i have just won the blue rv on ebay and yep its gonna be a project indeed but ive been after one since my dad built his back in 93 i did try to find his but no joy, so i had to settle for the craziest project for me to date but it will get finished even if i have to source another body lol, can the boxes be cut out or can you fit rear seats with the box still in? If theres anychance of some pics of yours terry thatd be great, and also where is the most chatty place for the eagle/rv owners for when i have my many questions Cheers dave

Hi dave,
Welcome to the forum and this is about the only place you will find RV chat. not too many about unfortunately but surprisingly Eagle have a higher survival percentage than most production cars. Great thing about kits is every one is unique and you do what the heck ypu like with it, as long as it stays legal of course. Good luck with the project, keep us all posted. Peter
