Hi all
I am new to the forum. A friend has just contacted me to say he has an Eagle SS body in his yard that I can have. He also has a vw chassis that I can have at a good price. I have a fair amount of experience building vehicle and presently have a beach buggy and a VW Iltis Jeep. So I am confident I can build it up.
The one thing I don't like are VW aircooled engines, so would a Subaru fit and has anyone done this. Also are there any other options.
Thanks all ans HELLO.
Rich

Hi Rich,
Welcome.
I take it you have checked the body and it is a VW version? There are both VW and Ford Cortina donor versions.
Next, is the screen intact? If not, add another 500 to the build cost, new ones are available from Pilkingtons. see thread on that subject, side and rear can be made from perspex or polycarbonate.
Regarding engines for the VW chassis there have been many different ones fitted from various versions of the VW including wasserboxers from type 4, four cylinder car engines including Golf GTi, Ford, Opel red tops, etc (even V6 (Bush boy's Nova on the Euro-Nova forum), and V8 engines, (NOT recommended) as well as Alfa and Subaru. you will need a conversion kit for anything other than VW boxer of course and I believe the rear engine Skodas 1300.
You will find links to the other Nova family sites at the top of ours.
I used to live in Stratford upon Avon for many happy years. I take it you will be popping up to Stoneliegh on bank holiday weekend, I'll be there from here in Spain on the Sunday and maybe Monday morning. Peter

Peter thanks for that. Yes it is definitely a VW Eagle. The pictures I have got show the windscreen to be intact but I will check. I will be at the Kit Car show on the Sunday so will come and look you up. Engine wise I think Subaru is the way to go.
Regards
Richard

Welcome Richard. One other thing that definitely need consideration is, does it have a V5c with a correct Eagle description? Getting one registered today is not as straightforward as it used to be.

not to have seen you on Sunday, I was on the Nova or Eagle stand about half the time I was there on both days but I did see and photo your impressive MoD buggy.

to have missed you. Some how I cocked up finding the Eagle area. I agree with your comments the show is now a shadow of its former self aimed at those with a large cheque book. Hopefully next year I may have something to park on the club area. I am thinking of perhaps an urban warrior an up market version of Recon the machine gun buggy. Rich.
