Hi, I brought myself a new eagle rv last year after selling my first one years ago and the current one is being more trouble than the last one lol
I'm only 23 but im learning a lot still about the eagles. My current car is my pride and joy even if not running. Hoping to learn more from everyone

Welcome Nick. There are a lot of us here with RV projects in various stages of completion. My main problem at the moment is motivation. I really need a new windscreen frame but it looks like I'll end up trying to do something with the original. Perhaps when the sun comes out, I'll find the inspiration.

Hey John. The weather has gone back to cold since the nice sunny weekday. Even if chilly this coming week, i'll be changing the carb and checking the timing as i miss hearing the pinto. Hope you get the windscreen done

Hi an welcome to the forum, I know the RV oys will have he answer to all your problems as they have had them themselves.
As far as engines go they really are quite simple, like pumps, suck-squeeze-bang and blow, that's it. as long as you have fuel/air going in, compression and a spark at the right time it WILL run.

If you still have points ignition, setting the timing should be pretty straightforward. . . I seem to remember doing it with a transistor radio, anyone else? . . . :-)

I seem to remember doing it with a transistor radio, anyone else? . . . :-) No but it's still fairly simple task to do by ear and then when it's running smooth-ish then get hold of a timing light to fine tune. Just done mine by ear, running nice at the moment but watch this space What's your location you never know one of us might be just round the corner from you.

Good point Gary, everyone should fill in that info, on more than one occasion help has been a mile or two away and no one knew.

Do you have a thread with where people are?
I'm going to have to learn how to time and tune.
If anyone is near Ashford Kent then I'd be grateful for any teachings

Any questions about timing and tuning just ask, we been there done that, some of us professionally or at least many times.

Is it running when it's back firing or is it doing it on starting?
If it's doing it when running try undoing the bolt that holds the plate below the distributer which holds it tight and just turning the distributer a little one way and see if it levels out if it gets worse then go the other way, you will soon know which way is the right way, if it stalls while you are moving the distributer then return it to where it was before it stalled and try again.

Hi Nick.
Are you one hundred percent sure that you have the HT leads going to the correct plugs? :-)

Yes I checked. When I put the new leads, cap, rotar arm and spark plugs in. I made sure it would be in the right order, I get a little uneasy if wires or leads are incorrect

Finally running but the dizzy doesn't look right where it is

It may be the dizzy drive has been installed incorrectly and it is not in the correct position for #1 TDC. As long as the engine is on #1 TDC COMPRESSION and the #1 plug lead is over the rotor arm tip and the firing order is correct that is all that really matters.

Have you got the distributor 180 degrees out?

Tuning and timing is all still need to me. Hoping to find someone local to help before taking to Canterbury's open garden.
Seeing as today is nice, I made speaker boxes for under seats and plan to go out for a little while to enjoy the fun.
Hope you're all having a great Saturday
