Let me first introduce myself. My nickname diy was given to me by another buggy forum because whatever I need is home-made in the workplace . I have several projects, some almost finished others in a start stage . So experience and kit cars vw related is not a big problem . 2 years ago I was lucky to drive a Nova Sterling, since then the car would not let me go . In my search , I finally came to the Eagle SS and was sold immediately. Meanwhile, I bought 2 bodies in the UK and am now looking for a chassis with a V5 which clearly stated that it is an eagle SS ,the bodies that I bought had no V5, and in Belgium where I live, you can only make a street legal car if it is already registered with mention Eagle SS . The body that I bought are not the prettiest but in a solid state , since I design and build things in polyester the reparation will not be a big problem. If you would like to see a some pictures of what kind off cars I restore you can take a look on Facebook under DIY . So if anybody have or now somebody who sell a chassis with a V5 registered as Eagle SS please let me know. The rest off the eagle's will start as soon as the other 2 projects that I'm working on are finished. PS I'm Flemish origin , so if I make mistakes in English, I apologize. Attachments:

Hi DIY, Welcome to the mad world of Eagle ownership and to our open forum, please feel free to visit the Eagle Owners Club web site, (link at top of page). Do not worry about your English or spelling ,(thank heavens for spell check), there are some English on here that could do worse and anyway, I can edit it if it anyway. but so far, so good. We also have a Facebook link and the mobile Tapatalk facility. Interesting selection of bodies there, a MkI and an early MkII with the Porche 928 nose, Can't quite make out the front suspension on the yellow one but looks like VW beetle. I love the Nova too, in fact all "droop snoops" as there are a dozen variations and versions of the original Richard Oaks design around the world. You will find the SS is easier to get in and out of, (very important at my age), as well as being slightly stronger being a 'one piece' body and not the six separate parts of the Nova and of course the two versions of the SS available, VW and Ford. On the Ford version there have been many owner changes from the basic Cortina donor concept with Sierra rear axles and even a 4x4 (never registered and now badly damaged), V6 and V8 engines and on the VW there are many rear engine configurations including Subaru, Alfa and Ford to mention a few. There is no 'standard' configuration as each car is built the way the owners wants it, or rather 'would like it' if it ever got finished, even headlights vary from the Porshe 928 standard ones to Fiat V20 coupé and Toyota etc. pop ups. Due to the strict limits of the floor width there are always seat problems as there are only 18" width but there are a few seats that do fit like mine and there are as many interior designs as there are SSs. Uncracked windscreens are worth more than the car, but thanks to mellOrman's efforts, new ones are available from Pilkington at about 500€ plus shipping, side and rear glass is just flat 4mm safety glass so can be made locally, I'm not sure on the legality of plastic side and rear windows in your country. Finding a SS with a V5c is going to be hard as most of the 'missing' ones have probably never been registered or scrapped already and those with a V5 are usually too good to break, (and breaking an Eagle is what we are trying to avoid if at all possible as only 680-ish in total were made). You must check on the validity of re-registering a Q plate car in Belgium, I can't do it it here, it must be a 'donor' V5 EG L256 JHT or KIP 256H not Q123 HGT. it might be the same there. One of the reasons there are so many unfinished projects, (apart from family, money, time, facilities, and capabilities), is the dreaded SVA test which a SS would find difficult to pass, (impossible with the side windows fitted), I myself am having a nightmare of a job getting all the paperwork together and inspections done to get my UK registered VW-SS onto Spanish plates. There are a couple of adventurous guys who are putting a SS body on MG and Lotus chassis as well some who started to build one off tubular chassis (but disappeared) too but it all seems very slow going. Nice to hear someone else makes his own parts, I too am 'old school' and part of my training back in the days of steam was to make things from scratch, what they call 'billet' these days, it also saves a bunch of cash, like the throttle pulley set up, $350+ in USA, =$40 made myself. My instructor in the Royal Engineers had a 'sinking submarine' method of teaching, "If you were on a submarine and it was sinking and you needed a part or a repair to save the boat you would soon find a way to make or mend it, somehow", of course this was way before Apollo 13 but same idea. Please look at my build page, ukhozi.page.tlAnyway, I hope you find the forum helpful and friendly, (we do try)

Thanks already for the help offered and the welcome, it is still not clear to me how you guy's see the difference between a mark 1 and 2 so fast.
The yellow one is VW rear engine, and is going to come on a VW chassis, I have been fortunate to purchase a proper chassis in Germany with the right papers, the body was burned out there, and I had a new windscreen for free along with the chassis, the engine that the Eagle will have is a real Porsche 914 2liter tuned engine, which I am already preparing at the moment . The red one has a front engine and there is a frame along which apparently comes from the company itself. If I understand correctly, is there a chassis number and identification plate so I can request the correct papers back? Where are these numbers normally stamped?
Ooh and please feel free to correct my bad spelling

Numbers , there are none, apart from the VW chassis but you know where that is in front of the gear link opening. The Eagle Ford chassis has a plate (sometimes) on the front left arm of the chassis near the top but that is just the kit/chassis number, VIN plates can be made up by a number of companies to the correct specification taken from the V5 and you might need a door post sticker as well to re-register it, I know I do. Easy MkI has solid nose and the side windows hinged at the front edge and ribbed rear cover, both VW and Early Ford. MkII has the separate nose like a 928. MkIII has no separate nose, (same as a MkI) and windows hinge top corner with an extension to the window opening and bottom front corner, boot on Ford version is smoother, (I have a Ford one on my VW though by request. Going with the VW version is a lot easier document wise as it is a re bodied VW beetle, same as your buggy's but the Ford/Eagle chassis is a whole different ball game. Should go like stink with a Porker in the boot but I don't need to tell you, you need a good 100 to 0 time, as well as fun 0 to 100 time. There have been a couple of SSs on Ebay, always a good place to look, and on the 'for sale' board on here. Might be worth going back on some older threads and see if they still have what they were trying to sell. Happy hunting.
