Hi Baj! Is this a recent purchase? Let's have some photos I'm guessing your RV is Cortina-based, so for the more obscure parts you may want to look at classic Cortina suppliers such as www.oldpartstore.net/ and www.fordcortina.co.uk/links.htmBut, to be honest, very likely the best place for things like plug cables is good ol' eBay - many of these companies sell on there too. Pretty much everything else 'kit car' can be had from EuropaSpares - such as the hinges you are after: www.europaspares.com/exterior-parts/hinges-latches.htmlAlso good is www.s-v-c.co.uk/ Also very good is www.albert-jagger.co.uk/products (great range of commercial vehicle parts which would suit the RV!) For interior and exterior trim materials, www.woolies-trim.co.uk/default.aspx is probably your best bet. Anyways, enough of that malarkey... PHOTOS! STORY! TELL US EVERYTHING! (I have an RV too, as do a few others on here, so don't hesitate to ask if there's anything we can help you with.)

Thanks for the reply scooby
Well I've had it since 2012 and bought it because a lot of my friends are vehicle mechanics and I thought with there help I could have a cool looking weekend treat, I paid 750 for it in the Same condition as the photos (I'll post when I figure out how to use this phone) it did run at first with a little help from the choke lever, I got a new starter motor for it, a de grunge and oil clean, started the interior by getting two Alfa Romeo seats, bargin 20 quid from the scrappies. Then I had to move location and left her behind, I got her back a couple of weeks ago, it didn't run as it had stood for two years, so I let a guy who thought he knew what he was doing touch it and after a couple of days he admitted he hadn't a clue, returned the keys to me with wires hanging out everywhere. I'm sure it's a pinto engine.......maybe? On a cortina chassis? Not a car buff as I'm a fabricator welder by trade, I'll dig out the v05 because I'm sure that has the engine on it.
Really glad I found this site, thanks for the help so far.
Haveing trouble doing the images from the phone, I will post later.

Hi baj, Welcome to THE Eagle owners Club Forum. VW SS owner myself but many, too many, years as a mechanic so also willing to help with advice. As it is a Ford Pinto you can find a lot of info such as engine numbers, build manual etc on the technical page of the E.O.C. web site, (link at the top of the forum). Also a list of trusted suppliers on the links page. The Chassis is an Eagle one with the Cortina front sub-frame and axle bolted in so fairly simple. We also are registered with the app, Tapatalk, if you want to download that on your phone, (when you learn how to use it ) then you get the latest on your subscribed threads. have fun and use Photobucket too, instruction on the thread. eaglecarclub.proboards.com/board/14/transfer-photobucket

Hi Baj, Congratulations on the New RV! I have only owned mine since Nov last year. I have recently had a dilemma and not sure what to do... The RV is a old boy but runs well and has another year on the MOT as it passed with no problems. I am only 25 and i am thinking about renting a local garage to turn it into a workshop and thinking about trying to restore the RV to its very best to enjoy many more years from it and be reliable to go on a trip more then 10 miles... Obviously this costs money but not a great deal as its in good working condition etc. Whats the thoughts?? Should i invest time and money to sustain her for years. or just enjoy her until she dies? Im in a ruck.. Id buy a Escort rally car but thats another dream, Il save that for my 30th. Oh by the way Im Bristol bound if there are any locals out there!!

Gary and Peter
I appreciate the help offerings but as I couldn't tell a spark plug from a light bulb I'm out of my depth with the engine, luckily I've found a garage near my house that will get her running providing I source the parts. Now my goal is keeping costs down. I am willing to invest a few bob because I'd love to keep it. I'm going to start work on the interior and was wondering if you know where I could source a roof? I love the sloped hummer look, the only child I have is a fat, daft staff so he doesn't need a back seat. I'm in the military as a metal smith so currently the cars in Colchester but during leave this month I want the inside done and will be dragging her up north. I say Leeds but it's more Bradford/ pudsy area. I can near enough weld all metals so can offer help that way???
Steve24 jealous that yours can run haha I'd keep her, don't see many driving around plus it's going to be good summer ( touch wood)
Thanks again for the replies

Light bulbs break when dropped, plugs don't, easy Shame you're not near CVD Ashchurch, used to be there in 'special projects', shhhhh. could have got some help. The hard tops for RVs do pop up from time to time but they are rare. Somewhere there is a certain Major, (should be L/Col by now) 'JonL with a SS but has been posted all over the place so currently location unknown. I have been out of big green marching machine for a long time but I still miss it,(not that we did much marching in the RE ). My number is 23872916, work that out by deducting it from your number, quite a few soldiers in between. Whatever you need to know we probably have the answer, somewhere, so no such thing as a daft question, just go for it. Peter

Yeah there is that i guess Baj. Well bit of graft and a couple of quid im sure you will have her up and about. Good to see some military presence here. I have just left the forces myself last year. Working in the oil and gas industry now which gets me two weeks of a month so plenty of tinkering time.
Keep an eye out on Ebay i have seen a few go for sale in the last two months. I am after restoring my soft top personnally. I like the option to ditch the roof when ever i feel like it and most importantly put it back up when the clouds turn grey and that liquid stuff starts falling out of the sky!
25220128 was my number so yeah peter must of been some time ago. My brother is in the RE now enjoying his time. Good stuff!

Hi Steve and Baj. Are the RVs worth doing up properly? I'd have thought so! If you keep them in decent nick, they'll maintain their value. If, however, you let them get to the stage where they, for example, fail an MOT and you suddenly can't be bothered sorting it and instead chuck it on eBay as a 'project', you'll only get a tiny fraction of its value. How many other cars out there can hold their value indefinitely? Only classics. So the RV is a classic Parts are dead cheap - I got a recon steering rack for £40, for example (how much would a rack for a modern car cost? £100's...). DIYing the repairs - if you are that way inclined - is also as easy as it gets on a car; access is amazing, and it's all very agricultural. So, even if you cannot do these jobs yourself, the labour costs from a garage should be relatively low (try and find an older, time-served mechanic - one of the 'old school'!) And - it's just great fun to drive. I sold my hard-top and doors a couple of months back, and run around exposed to the elements, wrapping up in a thick coat when it's cold, and pulling my hood up when it rains... A long-term project is to make detachable roof panels and doors, but I'm in no rush for that. Get these photos up, gents

Didn't you listen to the CSM when standing there in the gym in your shreddies and vest waiting to be kitted out, "On this piece of paper is your service number, now and for ever, remember it". we did and it is, War Pensions office still refere to me by it. September 1961 was my intake, got buggered up and MD'ed 13 months later with a 20% war disability pension, small recompense for a lost career which started when I was 13 as a cadet, am I bitter and twisted about it? Darn right I am! Anyway, enough about a buggered up old soldier who is also one of those "time served old school mechanics" (who dislikes with a vengeance the new school laptop 'fitters' of today. Any car, even a kit car, will reach a point when it stops depreciating and usualy starts to increases in value IF looked after. Unfortunately the majority of Eagles, (and I guess most other makes too), never see the road and of those only a handful are maintained in storage, most just rot in a backyard or shed until 'rediscovered' and then it is a case of, is it worth it? with selling prices of fifty quid to no more that a couple of grand and a windscreen for a SS at close to 400 quid, etc the answer is usually no, so it doesn't get restored and in some cases cut up and dumped, then there are the others with grand planes for V8's, body mods and super trim but little idea, skills, money, equipment or location to do it and it ends up part done and flogged on as yet another project. Close to 2,000 Eagle cars were made between 1981 and 1998 of which we know of 184, of which only a handful are on the road. (which is why so few cars turn up at shows), I have kept tabs on those in project or restoration mode and that accounts for only another 27, the rest

To avoid having to make multiple posts due to upload limits of proboards try using Photobucket and 'insert picture' instead. Currently in limbo with DVLA but not to worry, it will kick in as soon as you register it again. On the register as FRV82 Kool looking RV, all seems to be there, nothing fussy but a good start. there are a lot coming out of hiding and lets see if we can't get a couple of handfuls of Eagles on the road this year.

With KIT insurance make sure you phone and speak to someone rather than use the PC, you will get a much better quote in person. It's not un-heard of to get turned down for cover completely by the PC and then you phone and you given a competitive quote!
Playing one company off against another always works but stay "fairly" honest with the figures and you can get a good price.
