hi, i need to replace the upper and lower wishbone bushes on the rv, along with the tie bad bushes and the anti roll bar bushes. i am going to take the front axel out and overhaul with all new bushes, any idea of the best place (cheapest) to get suspension bushes from, people are advising to use the polyflex bushes, any suggestions?

And one tip you will need is, removing the old ones. Drill as large a hole through the rubber, insert a hacksaw blade into the hole and connect to the saw, then cut the tube of the outer sleeve out to the mounting, if needs be repeat on the other side and knock out. This will avoid a lot of heating and bashing and bloody fingers.

Cut off any flash from new bushes. Remove any burrs from bush mounts. Make sure you boil up the new bushes really well, use plenty of lubricant (should be supplied with bushes). Easier to fit and stops squeaks! Chaz.

In my experience Deflex are cheapest, Polyflex are the most expensive, but Superflex fit the best and go in with no problems, they all do kits for cortina's, or did a couple of years ago anyway.

thanks guys, the information received from this site forum is priceless, i will get them on order and begin getting the front axel out, should be fun! worth doing tho coz its wandering like a gypsy at a car boot sale at the moment. I will update when i get it done, thanks again

When you pushing your old bushes out if you are doing it manually watch you hand(fingers) as they always go so quick that you will stub them I have ;D

easiest way to get old bushes out is to use a socket big enough to go around the bush on one side, and one the right size to sit on the bush the other side and squeeze them up in a vice, the small socket will push the bush out into the big one.
you can do the same thing without taking stuff off the car by sticking a long bolt through the two sockets and doing a nut up on the end.

IF they come out, which they rarely do. Best to just spend 5 mins cutting the outer tube and then push them out, can be done in-situ.

never had one refuse to come out using a couple of sockets yet and i been restoring/driving old heaps for 25 years! lol

now you have cut the tube away, you will then realise that you should leave the tube in place to take deflex or superflex bushes,,
NEVER BE TOO EAGER TO CUT SOMETHING
