Hi folks, I've not been on these forums before, but I've had a black SS Series 3 sitting in the garage for over 20 years ! Due to moving home several times, kids, divorce etc, it's been very much on the back burner. However, I really need to do something with it now, and completing it isn't looking like an option, as I'm told it will be impossible to get a registration plate. So - what are my options? Should I waste time listing it for sale, or should I just dispose of it? I did think of offering it to a local college, who have a pretty good motor vehicle department. Any comments would be helpful in making my mind up. Thanks, Marcus PS: Some of you already have pictures of my car! They are in the build manual, after Robb and Senga at Eagle Cars, Storrington copied them and put them in the build manual without my permission - but that's another story!

Hi Marcus. Welcome to the EOC forum, I am only it couldn't be under happier circumstances. The build manual you refer to is not the one we have on our technical page as there are no photos in it. so I-m guessing there is another, more comprehensive one out there with your car in it. I do remember a kerfuffle about a manual and photos when I first joined the EOC back in 1995. I take it your SS is a Ford based one and you don't have a V5 for it so in that case it would need an VOSPA IVA test which is about £400+. Is not that a SS would automatically fail as no one has put one through an IVA test yet but there are things that would need to be done in order to stand a chance, like leave the side windows out so you can satisfy the section 10 "able to move drivers mirror from drivers seat". Front chin splitter would need en edge bonding to it as it would fail on edge radius. But no reason to scrap an irreplaceable car, as you may know only 680 SSs covering both VW and Ford were made. Donating it to a college is, going by my personal experience with a Embasee Charger is the same as scrapping it as they will have scant regard for its heritage or rarity and will just hack it about in some stupid project with no chance of it ever being a road going car again. Try in on Ebay with the clear understanding it will need an IVA and see what happens, bare in mind the screen if intact is worth 300 quid on its own. You could d o what a lot of guys do and just tinker with it as a hobby and when roadworthy then think about the test etc.

I am pretty sure that was the one and only post by Marcus. As the car is now at a college I guess he did put it there and I did get an email from someone at the college wanting to get rid of it due to lack of interest the project, (where have I heard that before?).
