Hi everyone, i bought an RV (shhhh, originally bought it to nick the engine out of it for my hillman minx and the heavy duty back axle as a spare for my cortina) but have got it running and driven it about in the sun for an afternoon and now i think i'll be selling the minx as i already have a fun car with a roof (mk5 cortina with a 24valve V6 in it) so need to go topless this summer. It say 1984 on the log book and is cortina based but has a rover V8 and autobox and chrome sidepipes on it. suspension, steering and braking is best described as "floppy" but i can fix all that easily although the steering linkage is, erm, "interesting" to clear the V8! the hood is my problem, its basically sound with a just one small area where the stitching is coming apart on top of the main rollover hoop. The windows however and knackered, couldnt see through em and they were all cracked or torn, as a temporary measure i have gaffer taped polythene in there but this isnt gonna hold for long obvioulsy. need to either buy a new/second hand one, or find someone in my area (essex, down by the M25) who can fix it. I also need the rear hoop, have made a one from solid bar but its not right and cant be stowed anywhere. It has plenty of get up and go and sounds lovely through the pipes, i want to tidy her up, lose the poor metal flake paint and fit some wider rims with a deeper dish to fill the arches, im gonna keep her low rather than go for the jacked up 4x4 look i think, semi lowrider style. she has sat outside all winter with the roof off so i am haveing some issues with the electrics and i think i'll have to replace the switch gear and ignition barrel to cure a load of earthing problems with the lights and instruments but she was only £400 and the engine and axle are worth that alone in my opinion. anyway, heres a couple of pics.

Welcome welcome, good to see another RV coming back to life. There were four at Stoneleigh on the stand and another couple driving around the show.

Been looking around the site and i assumed that my hood was sposed to just sit on the roll bars, looks to me like all the ones on here have a frame that folds?
Are there any drawings or measurements of this frame around anywhere or can i still buy one?

There are some drawings on here somewhere with measurements, I'll try to find them and post a link. Be warned, though there are lots of variations. You could try Tim at TEAC but he has got a lot going on at the moment.

had her on the rolling road on saturday, she made 147.1 bhp thats pretty much sandard for an old Rover V8, son he engine is nice and healthy. Did about 200 miles this weekend and no probs apart from a few leaks in my somewhat tatty hood. lol

cheers, guess i'll see you at some point as your local. got the hood pretty much on and sorted now, its not perfect but it does the job, seems to be an odd shape, longer on one side than the other. I assume its stretched over time. all the windows in it were yellow and torn with age, so i used the plastic that normally goes into awning windows, may not last long but it's worth a try, stuck em in with a hot glue gun, and added some gaffer tape just in case. May not look the best but hopefully it wont be on very much.

Got some more pics but as its a bit of a nightmare persuading her to keep her clothes on i cant post em, was bad enough on the M25 when she was flashing her boobs at people and seeing how far the wind would blow her skirt up her waist! lol The RV seemed to enjoy itself saturday though, sunshine, beer gardens, open top cars, and sexy girls are what makes life worth living.

Its not a problem, we been involved in the glamour industry for so long we sometimes forget that stuff we consider tame isnt always ok, not the first time we have been in trouble for it either.
I wont post any more shots of her knickers, and i'll smack her bum for being naughty. lol

Fianlly got around to fitting a couple of tyres and stuck my old school Appliance rims on the RV, they need a bit of cleaning up still. makes it look like a hot wheels toy, whicvh is fine with me.
