I still think that my idea of members who cannot attend or bring their cars could send in to someone who is attending a show a blurb and photos of their project so it can be displayed on an A1 piece of card in the club marquee. That leaves not a lot of time for this year but I'm sure it could be done.

Hi all Grom30, many forums are the same as this one because they basicly copied one of the best formats, ours. ;D I am pleased to say the committe have decided I may get stuck in on the web site and I will be working on it over the next weeks and hope to have some noticable changes by the AGM, Peter

Peter, I have just opened the site www.eaglekitcars.co.uk and this is a one page site at the moment. There was no virus alert and I have my virus checker running 24/7. I have also opened www.eagleownersclub.org.uk and again this opens fine. Helen

So unless Simon has cut all internal links where has all the content gone from the eaglekitcar site gone? The eagleownersclub .org.uk site is working and has been updated and nearly all the faults and dead links sorted out. Still getting the virus warning on IE8 and FireFox

So guys, after all this, do I ditch what I have done then thus far? www.audiografix.co.uk/test/eoc/I know David has been tied up with work which is why I didn't hassle him too much for the info. To be honest, I'm a little bit frustrated that I offered my help regarding the website, paid the outstanding hosting bill to keep the old site up and running (reimbursed by Helen), joined as a paying member, got no information from the club reference insurance companies, members forum password, membership card etc. It's not exactly the most welcoming start is it, or am I expecting too much?

Axe, that new site looks great and I am sure that Peter appreciates as much assistance as anyone, especially someone with your obvious skills, is willing give him.
I know that the club can be frustrating, at times, it always is with a small community geographically displaced held together by "projects" that seem to progress very slowly. It is, unfortunately, a sign of this that Samm's Cafe the most posted in board on the site and has absolutely nothing to do with kit cars! I am not moaning, before I get shot down, anything that keeps people visiting the site and commenting is great and should be encouraged. If we could arrange club meets and physically get together I am sure that group cohesion would get better but that is just not possible with our small numbers and large dispersion. Just look at the problems we have getting together once a year at Stoneleigh! Again that is not a criticism just an observation and I am as bad as everyone else and am not able to attend.
I am waffling now and am going to shut up, but in essence please don't get put off by some aspects of the club, you are appreciated and any input is always valued by the members and officers.
Many thanks,
Jon

Jon, It looks like my efforts have been in vein as I have also noticed that Peter has once again started updating the original site. He was obviously not told that I had offered my services or decided he didn't want to give it up. I've got no problem with that but it would have been nice if someone had told me not to bother one way or the other. Steve.

But, Any decision that effects the Club (or it's website) needs to be authorised by the Committee. Whilst I commend your efforts. I don't remember any Committee ruling that allowed you to go ahead Peter has been/and is still a respected member and pillar of the Club for many years! So it would only be sensible that he carried on where he left off.

Chris,
The original site hadn't been updated for sometime which is why I originally offered my services. I was told by Helen that David Martell was the web master so I originally contacted him to see if he needed input. He did, and was quite happy to have me build a fresh site with some of the graphical ideas that he had, along with any content he could provide. So I did! (n.b. The original/current site would have been pulled by the hosting company through non payment of fees if I hadn't contacted them and paid the outstanding £50.00)
The site and other things were to be discussed at the AGM at last years Stoneleigh show, but apparently some of the 'committee' members didn't turn up!
As far as I am concerned, that's the end of it now. I have no problem with someone else carrying on with the original site, just wish someone had told me.
Coupled with nothing from the club for my membership sums things up really. I can't see the point in re-joining.
So as far as the club goes, thanks for a thoroughly poor experience! Bye.

I'm all a bit confused here, I didn't know of any of this going on or that anyone else had a site in progress or that that the host hadn't been paid for this year. All I know is the 'official' EOC site was untouched since I handed it over in 2006 and all I did was offer to get it updated and all the links repaired and updated, Show diary updated, which is where I'm at the moment. I don't see any need for a complete rebuild or I would have done it, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
What I have been unable to do is any integration with Simon's Eagle Kit Car site as it has Exploit WebAttaker virus and isn't working correctly and I don't have the FTP password anyway.
The current EOC site format, colour schema and content was agreed on years ago as a final end to the various versions and changes being made at the time and the logo voted on and adopted by members and endorsed by the committee. I think Steve has done a good job on the graphics, matter of taste as it always will be, but nice work, all that's needed is, if everyone agrees, it to FTP the new front page and subsequent 'daughter' pages to the host. I too had wished someone had told me there was work in progress as it would have saved me bothering too.

The 'Official' EOC site is current. links are working, old dead links removed. dates corrected, I would update the shows page but there is a lack of material at the moment but as soon as I have relevant photos / details I will make a and I would have 'merged and page, the EOC and 'Eagle kit cars' sites but the EKC site is knackerd and I cannot get anything from it any more and it has a virus (Exploit WebAtteack), I think someone who didn't quite know what they were doing with FTP etc has been in and buggered it up.

O.K. so what is the set up now, we were supposed to have an AGM at Stoneliegh, did it happen and if so who's doing what? The position of webmaster was a committee position as I left things in 2006 so am I on or not and so do I get the PW to the committee area? Are we going to update the members and committee pass words for 2009? Peter

Well it was as expected a poor turn out at stoneleigh - but bearing in mind how many Rv's exist and are on the road I personally was pleased with the show.
What causes concern is the lack of club officials on the site. Was it on purpose? Was it an oversight? What ever it was it the members that manned the site did the best they could.
Nothing has happened since the Agm 2007 - the same items would have been on last sundays Agm agenda.
Some committee members do not now have the time / inclination to run the EOC or are involved in more than one club. Some new input has been criticised by some others, Why? They are trying to keep the EOC alive.
Threads read Tim selling up, a great shame.
I for some reason have not received this years membership card , Terry if i remember right also has a card issue.
The people we talked with at the Show all are proud of owning their Eagles and,
It is up to the EOC to keep the Eagle Marque alive - or they will become Dinasaurs, lets try to progress forward so please those still on the Committee don't ignore new ideas.
I have to say I am not pointing fingers at anyone in particular - before someone takes it personal

O.K. what's going on, if anything? seems to be a lack of interest apart from a couple of people at the moment.
