Grom and me were talking to Stuart Mills of MEV at Newark and he said he knew the man that had the RV moulds, as we were both visiting his workshop on tuesday the subject was again brought up. After a brief conversation on the phone between Stuart and the mould owner we were told that his company had gone into liquidation and the moulds along with other stuff had been siezed by the authorities and scrapped ! This included door and top moulds. To say this is bad news is a bit of an understatement. We were hoping to try and buy the top and door moulds at least. It looks like now we have to look at taking moulds off existing ones or maybe developing new ones. Comments please

Good news is there were more than one set of moulds, including the 4x4 ones. I don't know which set have been scrapped and scrapped is not always what is says, dumped in a scrapyard or corner of an industrial estate is more likely, which is how Tim found the SS moulds in a boatyard, (moulds now in Wexford), so some detective work, (a few phone calls and /or a visit by a member living in the area) is required before they are written off, who was supposed to have scrapped them, which "authority" and where. are they really scrapped as in brokern up or burnt? If indeed they are beyond repair then new ones must be made and possible better than the old ones, likewise I would love to put on the tech' page the drawings for soft top frames.

Further to the above I have had word with Tim about the moulds and it seems that it may NOT be the RV moulds that went but some for a pick-up project that never saw the light of day and the RV may well be safe. I have asked Tim to contact the owner, Richard, and see what the situation is. Here's hoping

Well we will have to wait and see, they wouldn't have just been destroyed as they were taken as part payment so they have value and I very much doubt they were destroyed. they must be somewhere, IF they were the ones taken. Maybe Richard doesn't want anyone to know he still has the RV ones.

Ok, Richard was the name of the guy Stuart spoke to, must be the same guy. Surely if he had some other moulds he would have at least hinted they might be available ?. We'l have to wait and see what Tim comes up with.

The pick up type moulds were the new project vehicle they were working on. 'The donor was going to be a Tata pick up, if I remember rightly, so just maybe the geep moulds are hidden away

That's right, the pick was on a Tata 4x4 chassis with a Mercedes engine, could have been a real work horse no frills motor.
