Came across an advert on ebay about a KIT CAR build up service a few months ago, basically saying "if you have one stuck on the drive not going anywhere" that they will complete the build project or get the project up to a certain level , reasonable rates etc. etc. As my SS project does not seem to be progressing very fast at all, this kinda sounds like a solution to actually getting the SS on the road to be able to drive. I know some people may class it as cheating and half the fun of owning a car is building and tinkering, but I'm sure I will have much more fun driving it ,than keep seeing it on the drive feeling guilty at not spending enough time on it. Yes it will cost, but It will also save my time at weekends were I can make money on other projects. So swings and roundabouts I think on the money front , has anyone else been down this route ?

When your stuck for time its a good solution. As long as they do a good job you can then enjoy your car,

there are only two ways to get anything done, do it yourself or pay someone to do it for you. because it's always the same story, when you have the time you don't have the money, when you have the money, you don't have the time.

Been in touch with a few places whom advertised doing kit car builds but none ever really came back to me when presented with my project. Until I came across GPA cars last week. The chap I spoke to seemed knowledgeable and knew the type of chassis an eagle ss had from memory, as I think he built one in the 80's. During the chat it seemed a good idea to start from fresh again, rip all wiring out, body off etc. They should come come back to me in the next 10 days with some prices for each stage of work. Hopefully we are both in the same ball park cost wise. They are also mindfull regarding the charging costs of work to car value once complete. I'm after nothing fancy just safe, all working and on the road. It would be early next year to start something like this for me and them. I have my fingeres crossed its not way out prices

I was wondering how much a vinyl wrap would be in comparison to a paint job. I imagine neither would be cheap

A full wrap would come in at abut £600 in vinyl plus labour if your not up to it, so about £1,000 all in compared to a half decent paint job at about £2,500. The latest stuff is self bleeding, so easy to apply without bubbles due to the small grooves in the sticky side and with a little help from a heat gun it can wrap around anything. I saw the 100% carbon covered Mini that 'Wheeler dealers' had done, it looked fab'.

i get alot of customers toys coming in that they started with all good intentions but just dont have the time to finish,, usually end up completly stripping and starting fresh,, always the best way,,, as for the wrap save your cash for a respray the wraps dont last like paint,, had a customers rangerover wrapped in dayglow green, 18 months later it needs doing again,
